Pickle Rick

125th anniversary shirt

Recommended Posts

Looks pretty much official to me. I was looking forward to having the opportunity to get a retro classic design that I could wear with pride for the next few years but I certainly won't be parting with my hard earned for that

Very disappointed

On the contrary, I hope they are.  Serve ‘em right!

Someone's taken "inspiration" from this...

But this isn’t just a hash of various Man City blue shirts. It is unique and has a distinctiveness to it.

Ours could just be sewn together using off cuts. There’s nothing “new” about it to celebrate the past yet also embrace the future.

Think I'm gonna get one. Really like it now. And yes I've been at the Janet's Jungle Juice.

Go back to our origins and recreate one of these surely?

This is what it should be.
The red top / blue shorts for outfield players, with the yellow one for the keeper.

I’m convinced this is a stunt.
They’ll announce the proper kit tomorrow, and hopefully it’ll be something like the above.

There’s absolutely no way in the world this is for real. Definite stunt.

I have thought of one use for these works of sharts.

I read in the Transfer subforum, some wag suggesting that with their interest in Albert, Cardiff were constructing a real life Bristol City museum.

When our game against Fulham is over and these shits end up being candidates for landfill, we sell them to Cardiff.

Should be an easy sell as well.

1/ They have previous of playing in red.

2/ Half their squad will be, 'owww, look, I wore this patch 8 years ago!'.

I was always of the impression that it was near impossible to mess up a home shirt...... Until now.

As someone who can be a bit "out there" with what I wear on a football pitch, really didn't think I'd ever dislike any shirt.

It's pretty much the first city shirt that has made me cringe.

Well you can pre order and pay for it on the club shop so I’m not so sure it is

I feel like this is the club taking the piss out of the fans a bit to honest. No one in their right mind must think that even looks ok and they are charging 45 quid for it.

Could they not have let the fans have a vote for their favourite kit from the past and reinvented it slightly without the sponsor. We have some really decent kits from the past which are really hard to get hold of so they would have been able to sell plenty.

Exactly my thoughts on it.

They've missed a trick here in this age of social media. Have a series of votes, knockout tournament style with as many of the old kits as possible. I like the sentiment, but that effort just looks a mess.

What a mess. Stick to being daddy's boy Junior, you ain't no fashion designer. Appalling.

And what gives a gambling company from Malta the right to be on a shirt celebrating 125 years of BCFC?

A clueless, shambolic disgrace. Fcku off.

Have digested it further I think this is my number one issue with it. Who wants to buy this shirt and in 30 years time look back at it and say "Oh yes remember that weird gambling company with the awful name, that really sums up the 125 years of history that does."

Personally I am not buying a shirt whilst we have a gambling company as the prime sponsor, but this could surely have been negotiated out from any contract.

Wow. Read this out loud an listen to how pathetic you sound.  It's just a football shirt buddy, listen to you.

It's. Just. A. Football. Shirt.

Why the insults?

It’s been years since I bought a replica City shirt and so this new design won’t affect me but personally I think it’s bloody awful especially that white DUNDER slash across the chest..

In one word - disgusting.

If this isn’t a joke, and I still sincerely hope it is, it’s the worst shirt I’ve ever seen. Nobody in their right mind would think that looks okay. It’s so bad it’s actually impossible to imagine how they could’ve made it look any worse.

I’m sure now it’s not a joke. People are preordering them on the website. They wouldn’t let them do that if it wasn’t a genuine product. It’s real. This will go down as a missed opportunity by the club I think. Hope they haven’t ordered too much stock.

On one hand, they had ages to get this right and do something classy for a one off special event.

On the other hand it’s a one off special event not a whole season of that horrible shirt.

as I posted earlier on social media... "What the **** is that... It's like the elephant Man of Bristol city shirts... Did we have lots of old shirt parts around the place and you thought let's just glue them together...🤮🤢💩"

I’m sure the pre-orders aren’t genuine.
The club would be amazed if anyone thought to order one.
It’s a big ruse. If anyone has the stupidity to pre-order one, I’m certain their card won’t be charged and they’ll get an email tomorrow confirming no transaction took place.

It’s a joke. Got to be. It really is too ridiculous to be true.

Dave Cotterill's romper suit for season 2005/06 was quickly withdrawn following a supporter backlash. Mind you, the shirt young Dave modelled appeared four sizes too big, making him look like a blade of grass in a bin liner. Classy.

This is defo for real. Club trying to follow the trend of mish mash shirts the yutes are lapping up at the mo. Problem with this one though.....it looks shit, and thats coming from a designer. In a bizarre way they've been too safe with it if that makes any sense.

Or this could be a clever marketing ploy to get Bristols faux eco warrior middle classes on board. Using deadstock/recycled fabrics is a big thing at the moment in terms of waste and sustainability. Some bloke in China/Bangladesh calls Lansdown Jnr and tells him he's unearthed a mountain of deadstock city shirts from the past.....Jon's 'clever' business brain goes into overdrive!

Well, thats my take on things anyway!

We know even from this thread that there are fans who genuinely believe they have 'bought' this shirt. Giving the impression of having accepted an order if it's a joke would be going too far imo.

If it's a publicity stunt - as I hope it is - the club could have just said they'd be taking orders from Monday rather than making fans - even a small percentage - feel foolish when the real shirt is revealed.
