Now unable to attend a fixture which has become a bit of a tradition (friends in Nottingham, one of our Midland matches) in recent years. Mother's Day too, and a 3.00pm kick off, which complicates travel arrangements. I know that it will suit some, but not us. Money talks....

This is strange one by Sky with it being a 3pm kick as we are up again

Leicester  Brighton

AND

Southampton  Arsenal

Both those games could be called off as its FA Cup quarter final weekend and Leicester and Arsenal are still in it at present

Sky don’t care about the fans mate. Could’ve easily picked a game where the two teams were very close...

It's hardly a shock though as a real rivalry has grown up between the sides. I can see the attraction for Sky showing a resurgent Forest who sit in the in the play offs against City who are hovering and are seeking three wins in a row at the City Ground.

Be a nice gesture for the club to lay on free transport as a one off. They will I presume get a wedge for being screened.

£10,000 for the away side.

And no, there isn't a digit missing.

Really? Does the away side need to give consent? Odd to do so for just that.

Already paid for advanced train tickets to this fixture, usual liberty by Sky Sports.

Didn't a politician propose a law recently about refunding train fares if TV moves games. It's about bloody time.

Around £100,000 for the home team. A bit more midweek (possibly for away clubs as well, but it's not much).

Here you go:

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-tv-money-leeds-16034227

Despite Sky being broadcast partner, TV money in the EFL is far less than in the Premier League. Championship clubs chosen to host matches are awarded £100,000 per game - unless it’s played on Sunday (£120,000) or Thursday (£140,000) - while away teams collect a fixed fee of £10,000.

Surely City would have to agree with the change? If they did for ten grand in the knowledge that many had made plans already its poor.

They don't have a choice. None of us do.

In line with the new Domestic Broadcast Agreement with Sky Sports coming into force from the beginning of the 2019/20 season, further amendments have been made to the TV Selections Policy. The minimum five week commitment remains in place for the majority of the season but the rolling basis period commences for matches taking place from 7 March onwards is to be shortened to four weeks’ public notice. The date of rolling selections commences on 7 February for matches from 7 March onwards. The notice period remains at three weeks for the penultimate weekend of the season as per the amendment in March 2018.

TV Selection Dates 2019/20 (Illustrative but subject to a five-week minimum notice commitment)

  • Remainder of August Selections for 10th August to 31st August by 5th July.
  • Selections for 7th September to 28th September by 26th July.
  • Selections for 2nd October to 9th November by 30th August.
  • Selections for 16th November to 7th December by 4th October.
  • Selections for 11th December to 11th January by 1st November.
  • Selections for 18th January to 1st February by 6th December.
  • Selections for 8th February to 29th February by 3rd January.
  • Selections for 7th March by 7th February.
  • Selections for 14th March and 18th March by 14th February.
  • Selections for 21st March by 21st February.
  • Selections for 28th March by 28th February. (No Championship fixtures on weekend of March 28th)
  • Selections for 4th April by 6th March.
  • Selections for 10th April to 13th April by 13th March.
  • Selections for 18th April by 20th March.
  • Selections for 25th April by 3rd April.
  • Selections for 2nd and 3rd May by 27th April.

Hence why Championship clubs were so annoyed with the latest TV deal and for it being so long

I think that we got about £1.1m for televised games last season (I think there were something like 25). The central solidarity payment to each Championship club was flat at around £5 or £6m. So the clubs that were on TV a lot with all the inconvenience that comes with received next to nothing for the privilege.

So far it's 16 if you include red button games, with 4 more scheduled (including Huddersfield and Sheff Wed which will be on the red button).

You could leave her in the sports bar with a Gin and Tonic, a packet of cheese and onion crisps and a pickled egg.

And that`s before they decide to televise Cardiff at home and Swansea away...…….........……...…..

Also, I wonder if the Easter games will be on the red button? I`ll be at the Hull game but Boro away would be nice!

Yeah, none of that would surprise me. And Cardiff has already been moved to the Saturday lunchtime slot so it's an easy selection for them.
