I don't think they are coached to not move per se, but I am fairly confident that they are coached not to make the type of runs the come naturally. 

Against WBA there was an occasion where we got the ball and began to break forward and Wells started to make a run into the acres of space in the Channel, then you could almost see him think and then for no reason he stopped the run and moved centrally, as if he'd remembered an instruction to not run the channels.

You're jumping to conclusions. 

According to Johnson's Grass Length Coefficientometer, his pre-match measuring determined his setup was, initially, spot on.

Surely any professional player knows to move after making a pass? Every midfielder should know how to make them self available when the centre back has the ball? My Sunday team can do it ffs. Perhaps it’s a complete lack of confidence in having the ball?
