You need to send evidence of disability, unless you’ve sent it recently. I had mine handy so emailed it over. About 20 minutes later I got an email back saying it was ok to phone up and renew. But what made yesterday even more annoying is that the phone system was down and no mention of it in the OS! I started calling before 2:30 and never got through once!
