Luton, Barnsley, Charlton

Recommended Posts

That is the order in which they finished the 2018-2019 campaign in League 1; in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Today, they are together again, all in the bottom 3 of the Championship table.

What will be the odds of all 3 going straight back down? Barnsley and Luton look particularly vulnerable.

The gulf between tier 2 and 3 is getting harder to bridge each season, that much is clear and much like tier 1 to 2 used to be which I think is now less different in standard than it once was. The levels of football are changing and standards improving in a downward motion.

Hull are in serious trouble. I can see them dropping in there.

Think Charlton will just have enough in them to stay up.

Was hoping for Barnsley, Middlesbrough and Stoke but yesterday's results have helped the latter two at the expense of Hull and Charlton.

The regular relegation of sides promoted to this division, Sheff Utd apart, says there's a fair old gulf between the Championship and L1 now.

Is it a concern? If we were in L1, most certainly but we're not so tough! :)

Agreed we are either more interested in the very, very close battle to come up from League 1, where Giants like Fleetwood are so far ahead of rovers, it is funny OR who stays up in the Prem!

I can`t see Boro going down (although it would be funny), Stoke seem to be hitting a bit of form at the right time and Charlton will squeak it IMO.

Hull, Luton and Barnsley for me.

If Luton could win their next game, that would be smashing...

Arhhh yes indeed. A decent hammering would be marvellously entertaining.

Hull are dropping like a stone.

I chucked some money on them being relegated when they were 25/1 just after the transfer window.

Currently 2/1 and looking good for the drop... :smartass:

That was a very savvy bet Hombre. I recall they got hammered the first day after whatsisface went to .. the hammers. Poetic.

Recent form is Rovers-esque...

Losing 1-5 at home to Brentford.. I think was the kiddie.

Hull, Gas and Stevenage must have the bottom 3 spots in the 92 I should think. Fancy losing to Southend.. comical .

Hull deserve to go down. Sold the crown jewels in January......

End of parachute payments last season - they only got 2 years worth having come straight back down! Grosicki on £60k per week?  Although they made profits in last two seasons, I wonder if their owner isn’t backing them....hence the sales and expectation to be fully self-sustainable.

Average home attendance 10-11k

Is Maddison just on loan there? He could end up back in the Championship with Posh and replace Hull.

Hopefully Hull Barnsley and Boro. All depressing away trips.

Oh I dunno, I’ve had some great trips to Barnsley and Boro - had a cracking night out in Barnsley after a game up there once as well - agree with you about Hull though ...

If selling your best players is the criteria for deserving relegation, we’d be non league by now ...😄🍷

Hull are in big trouble, they were the most obvious example of a 1 man team since argentina in 86.

not that we would consider flogging our best player as soon as a decent offer came in of course! Just goes to show that its entirely possible to fall like a stone if you sell your best players, and the fact that we have maintained and improved our position despite doing this for years should mean some degree of credit to lj.

The difference is that we try to buy in better players as replacements.

My observation on Hull is it is the last English urban stronghold of the un-ironic moustache.

Only Hull and Sheffield W. below us in the current form guide over last 6 games, the Gas only have Southend and Bolton below them.

I want Barnsley to stay up. They play tidy football. Would like one of the bigger clubs to go down but cant see Stoke going down. Boro more likely of those 2 imo

What’s the odds on this 12 pt deducation for Sheff Wed? That would put them well in the mix as well.

If guilty I think it will be more like 16-18 points.  Because if guilty, must be aggravated too.

Gotta say with their form from Boxing Day onwards.

If they get that found guilty and it's that aggravated breach especially. Well, think they can start dusting down those roadmaps to Peterborough, Rochdale etc.

If you add Derby to the Owls you suddenly have a salivating bunch of fans amongst the current bottom 3. And what about Birmingham? Is there not something lingering there also?

Stuck £5 on them to go down at HT in their Brentford game, got 60/1.

Had a look yesterday and the same place had them at 21/10.

The play nearly all the teams below them over the rest of the season, plus WBA and ourselves.

I think Brum were given an all clear last week by the EFL, however the EFL can appeal

Reckon Peterborough will go up this year.
