Where do I collect the pigeon from?

Story from Bobby Gould when his Father took him to his first football match.

HIs Father took two pigeons from the "pigeon house"

B.G. said what you taking them pigeons for.

To release one pigeon at haf time with the score and then release the pigeon

and do the same at full time.

Circa 1950's when very few people had a wireless let alone a portable one.

Get a pigeon from Bobby Gould*.

*who probably 'still has a house in the area'. Which is how he was linked with the City job every time it became available.

A young Dick Dastardly and his puppy Muttley would have been after them in a flash.

This is actually true but from a Stoke City point of view.

So that the half time score could be printed in the Stoke Sentinel (their version of the BP), a pigeon was used to get the information from the Victoria Ground to their offices up to the late 50s.

I know most people have a smart phone and can keep up to date with most footy related happenings.

BUT not everyone, so if you may have difficulty looking at your phone at work

You are without a shadow of a doubt, one of my favorite posters on the forum.

This place is far better for your contributions.
