The English Game

Recommended Posts

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but a new series has started on Netflix, The English Game. Looks like a series about the origins of football. At some point I think they are going to recreate the 1883 Cup Final complete with Rugby style tactics/formations. Looks interesting.

It is just like Downton Abbey, which is not surprising given the writer.

Very light and fluffy viewing, probably just the thing for current times, but don't expect a documentary!

No one expects a documentary.

Well, if I say that the wife has happily sat there while we watched the lot, and she hates football, should tell you all you need too know.

Still a decent watch though.

I watched four episodes last night whilst my new baby daughter slept on me and my wife caught up on sleep.  I think it was quite good but I’m so tired currently that I can’t really remember what happened!

I have now hinged watched 4 episodes and am quite enjoying it. A little less social commentary (The woman's hostel) would have been but it is easy to see why the Lancashire clubs dominated the early years of football.
