Interesting websites

I work from home and so when I need a break I take a coffee and check out several websites. OTIB has always been great for this

Today the sites I normally look at either full of Virus doom and gloom or they are trying to drag up any small item of sports news no matter how trivial

Has anyone found some alternative sites that provide some coffee break distraction (other than x rated of course)

Well the obvious one is You tube to be honest don't know what I would do without it at the moment google earth street view is another about the only way you can safely walk the streets nice to go to your favourite holiday resort not quite the same but better than nothing.

Dans vlog - American guy in Savannah who has a gardening side hustle business

My self reliance - Canadian guy who has got out the rat race and lives in a log cabin he built

Bushwacker man - loves bushcraft and camping out in the woods

Girl outdoors - Bushwacker mans daughter who also loves the same as him either on her own or with her dad

Flossy Carter - indepeth reviews of new mobile phones

My self reliance is class, never thought I'd like it , but it's compelling somehow. Even shout at him to chuck that thing for his dog.

I love YouTube. There’s so much stuff. Just put something or someone in the search bar and you’ll be on there for hours.
educational stuff, comedy, old telly programmes, classic tv moments, old news reports, sporting moments, old adverts, music. There’s some wonderful vintage telly moments. Also some conspiracy stuff, murder investigations by amateur sleuths, cookery pages, scientific lectures, Ted talks, anything.

It's addictive as one site then moves to another

Agree with you on this one Max, during this lockdown its You Tube keeping me sane, good thing if you like series ie Open all hours, ration myself to two episodes a day till I move on to next series. Its a wide open world there for all tastes.

It's how I watch my tv now 100% to be honest. Nothing better than stumbling across a channel that's really good and 18 months old , major binge watch.

This is one website I love:

www.skyscrapercity.com

It's a forum like OTIB, but covers all the planning and architecture throughout the world. Bristol has it's own section, which covers what's being planned, and transport, and photos of developments as they are being built.

Call me Geek!!

For the local historian and community types, I would heartily recommend the Know Your Place Bristol site:

http://maps.bristol.gov.uk/kyp/?edition=&maptype=js

It has lots of old maps and stuff that can keep your curiosity going for ages. For example, you can see what the Ashton Gate site was before it became the football ground it is today.

While I can't get out and play a round with other golfers on the course, to keep my hand during lockdown I'm using the web site  "play around with yourself at home".  :)
