I do agree they shouldn’t be picked on by MP’s to give to the NHS or other charities, it should be an individual’s choice. Why would footballers be picked out, why not TV stars, movie stars and singers. There is a lot of wealth in this country and whilst footballers are a percentage of it , they’re not the only ones earning excessive money. The Liverpool situation is disgusting a club with their wealth , similar to Spurs should NOT be asking for government assistance - the government should be telling these clubs to **** off unless they agree to put ALL staff (including players) on the same scheme. If you can afford to pay £100k plus a week to an individual, you can pay the non playing staff. You can bet Liverpool & Spurs will both spend £50 million at least in the next 12 months on new players - yet they can’t afford to pay their non playing staff. Tell them they’ve failed FFP and can’t play champions league football and get a 3 year transfer ban , they’ll soon pay their staff in full I see Kyle Walker has issued an apology for having escorts at his house , for him and his mates. When will these ******* selfish ******* join the real world. I can’t wait until the Euros next year when every newspaper is calling them hereos again. Furloughing staff, tax haven owner. That said our underlying profitability just isn't there, transfer deals aside. On the other hand, players could do like Leeds and take a deferral. Brentford took a cut too I believe.
Mr Popodopolous
Still find it interesting too that the Bristol rugby appear to have taken a hit (cut or deferral unsure) of 25% but the players not. Believe their staff furloughed too.

Mr Popodopolous
45 minutes ago, Bristol Rob said: Certainly a fair point- if we all have to do our bit, they should likewise. I think one aspect that makes football an easy target is e.g. Tottenham and Liverpool, two clubs who posted huge profits over trhe last 2 full seasons furloughing staff who are non footballing while paying highly remunerated players full whack- not a good look whatsoever! Norwich are a self-funding model with no wealthy owners and a yo-yo club so it's more understandable. Newcastle? Not quite in the elite bracket and their profits from last season, no idea as they've taken advantage of the chance to delay their submissions due to this. IF after players have taken a hit, especially at these higher levels the club still has a problem then the furlough is quite justified but if and only if it reaches that point. IMO. Mr Popodopolous
Well done to WBA CEO... Unless there's stuff not in the public domain, middling and lower earning staff furloughed, rugby 25% down- top brass paid as usual. Granted, no WBA players have yet taken a cut or deferral and granted they have parachute payments but Mark Jenkins is leading from the front here. Presumably the 20% is still being topped up by the club as it would be if WBA furlough but takes character to lead from the front- as Leeds and Brentford (and possibly Birmingham) players have shown- Man Utd in the PL.
