My Way by Sid Vicious was a good cover. I quite like listening to it.

Good shout for The Mercy Seat. Nick Cave's cover is awesome.

And on the subject of Nick Cave, his covers album "Kicking Against The Pricks" is everything that Duran Duran's "Thank You" is not. Will be digging it out for a listen tomorrow.

Heard KATP for the first time last week, and can only concur

My son is studying music at Uni. He's a saxophonist. I've heard at least one 3rd year student murder Phil Collins' Easy Lover. Truly disgusting. Anyway, I have often said to him if you are going to do a cover, make it your own. I'm pleased to see XTC and The Wurzels get mentioned already. However, for me here is the track that backs up what I'm saying!

Yes’s cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s America, incorporating the the theme from The Big Country.  Completely ridiculous, but somehow fabulous.

Totally agree with you @The Dolman PragmatistIt is an epic. I've always said this is up there with the best covers EVER. Around 1971/72  they were a great band.

The Nice did an interesting, rock version version of America.

The Nice’s ‘America’ was loosely based on the West Side Story song “I want to be in America”, not the Simon & Garfunkel song, so not actually a cover version.  As you say though an interesting instrumental, which I believe had to be renamed ‘America 2nd Amendment’ for copyright reasons
