Implications of almost every scenario are massive, gonna take some sorting out - reckon a 5 aside competition is the best approach 10min's each half, done and dusted over a bank holiday weekend.

In all seriousness (yes, rare on here I know), we all know something pretty bad is happening and I wish all fellow reds and their families good fortune over the next few weeks. Actually, that applies to everyone but especially to our fellow cidereds.

Stay safe people.

Here' a dilemma.

If you're middle aged, you're a lot more resilient than your parents so could carry the virus without being too bad. Are we supposed to refrain from physically visiting the older generation who wouldn't be as resilient just in case we, inadvertently, pass it on to them?

Tough times.

Football on a nice summer evening followed by a few on north street sounds like perfection to me!

It obviously isn’t good for the players, but summer football sounds great to me.  Just wearing a t-shirt to Tuesday night games?  Beers/ciders in a beer garden before/after the game?  Not having to walk home in the dark freezing to death?

The players always say they want a winter break….. ;)

Was in an office in Manchester past few days, one of the ladies we were with reported yesterday morning she had the symptoms

We were all immediately sent home and am working from home today and since been told to work from home next week and cancel all meetings from next week

Feel rough today still with sore throat and temperature, feels like I have a head cold

Hull City are the latest club to donate food ordered for matchday following the suspension of games, with Aston Villa confirming 850 staff packed lunches are being donated to support homeless charities. “With food having already been delivered to the Kcom Stadium for tomorrow’s game, the club was keen to ensure it didn’t go to waste,” read a club statement. “Fresh fruit, vegetables and sandwiches have now been passed over to FareShare Hull & Humber, a charity that redistributes surplus food to over 120 organisations throughout the region. The club are pleased that this surplus food will go to people who really need it.

Trouble you have is clubs are still in Europe so have those games to play as well as FA Cup. PL Man City have 10 games to play as well as potentially 6 CL and 3 FA cup ties. That is 10 weeks to finish the season.
EFL with play offs could be done in 7 weeks.

The FA should show the same disregard for player's wellbeing that they do with non-league players and make them play every other day, or in some occasions on consecutive days

In France the government have banned visits  to old people’s homes to avoid contagion.

They are advising not to visit elderly relatives or friends and people over seventy have been asked to stay at home going out only when there is no other choice.

Am I the only one who is bewildered by all this ?

I have never experienced anything like this in my entire life.

To top it all, whilst I realise that the weaker members of our community are at risk of losing their lives , thousands die off each year with the flu . Why is this virus so much more important ?

Not just France Major. Happening here too. Many care home chains are stopping visits.

Its following the governments advice I suppose - the EFL and EPL etc are not following the advice and doing their own thing.

I don't think the EFL are going against government advice. That advice was about the issue of large gatherings. The EFL statement is clear that their decision is about the number of players now testing positive, squads in isolation and so on, it's about the players, not the crowds.

Not sure whether it's hit rugby players or teams in the same way yet.

And, I suspect, by 3 April when the EFL review it, the government will have banned large gatherings anyway.

This is more important because there is currently no treatment, whereas existing flus can be treated via flu jab

I assume because we have no imunity. Therefore it will spread to more people, meaning more vunerable people will get it, meaning a lot more of them will die.

A lot of people were saying the season would not be CANCELLED. Now it is effectively postponed we see posters throwing mud even though it hasn’t been CANCELLED.  There is a difference between cancellation and postponement.  Not sure if it’s ignorance or posters wilfully being wrong.

If anyone would like to explain how a cancellation would work, I’d be most interested.  Just cannot see it but willing to listen to views on how it could happen

I think the most common suggestion is restarting the season from August ie no promotions/relegations. Leeds winning in 1st place with no promotion would be pretty funny tbf.

to be honest, i really don't give a toss about the difference between cancellation or postponement. This transcends football and should be treated accordingly. Watching from afar, am horrified by Britain's response to what is a major world crisis.

I tend to agree, I still cant see it being outright cancelled there are just too many complications. I could possibly see a situation where players and staff have been isolated for a period of time (assuming thats what they intend to do) and then remaining fixtures played behind closed doors from the end of april in the safety of knowing the players are all clear)

I can't see the Euros going ahead now with all the travelling across Europe. That will have a huge impact the economy though especially with the number of countries involved expecting increased travel, tourism, bar and pub sales etc
