I thought he got injured for a year but maybe it was shorter term? Blackburn had quite a few good players out just before match postponed- Holtby another strong option in midfield, with good experience- out too. Said he was out for the season- whereas our injuries appears to have cleared up, those two notable ones do not! LocoPal
I want the season to start again, just like anyone else, i really do. But this bothers me. It took just 1 case to set this whole thing off. So ... just how many '1 cases' are out there right now to start this all off again? The most suscepible in society are still dying at a rate of say, 1 jumbo jet going down every day. Is that what it takes? A 'normal' is only reached when the most vulnerable of us have already been wiped out or locked away from society?

If we are starting to lockdown regionally (or whatever level) it’s because things are going badly....and my opinion is then - football ain’t important. Im quite excited by football re-starting, but if we are suffering deaths at rates like current, then I don’t really care how safe football is. I know that’s a bit illogical, but I think it will open people up to thinking, “football is back, gonna meet up with mates”.
Super
Good news There have been no new positive cases confirmed in the latest round of Premier League coronavirus testing. Dr Balls
The number of new cases has dropped significantly since the peak at Easter. We were worried about seeing a spike after VE Day Bank Holiday but it didn’t happen, and cases have continued to fall. What isn’t clear is whether or not we will get a spike after the hoards all went to the beach last week in the hot weather. People from the Midlands in Weston last week were clearly holidaying, which isn’t on tbh. The message should have gone from “Stay Home” to “Stay Local”, just as it did in Wales and Scotland. As for footballers, few are testing positive and almost none of those have symptoms. As professionals, other than training, they should be protecting themselves and their families. Unfortunately we know that not all of them are that responsible (Kyle Walker - WTF in more ways than one!). The trip to Blackburn will likely need at least 2 coaches to allow for 2m social distancing between players, especially as the match day squad will now be 20, plus the coaching team and medics. I am pretty sure it will go ahead, in part because I can’t see how a regional or even local lockdown is going to work in this country. We have no regional government, our local government has been enfeebled by a cash starvation that started in 2010, and our police forces (sorry “services“) cover different areas as well. In fact, it’s all’s bit of shambles, but then that’s the English way it seems, especially with Bozo as the figurehead, and the Mekon in charge! 5

In fact, it’s all’s bit of shambles, but then that’s the English way it seems, especially with Bozo as the figurehead, and the Mekon in charge! Overall, everything is reducing (which is good) but without people tested data it’s really difficult to know if it’s reducing steadily or getting close to plateauing. Pillar 1: swab testing in Public Health England (PHE) labs and NHS hospitals for those with a clinical need, and health and care workers is generally going up in volume of people tested, whilst positive cases standing still, so that’s good. Although failed tests is going up, which is a bit worrying. However.... Pillar 2: swab testing for the wider population, as set out in government guidance Is difficult to say because of double counting. Positive cases reducing slowly, whilst by some crude maths, people tested has stayed constant. Again good, but slowing....and the false negative rumours could expose this data. The amount of tests declared daily that can be counted as being followed through into a person tested is getting worse as a percentage. In the last 7 days, 6 have been less than 50%, the worst day being only 36% of 220k tests could’ve resulted in a person tested. I do think it’s generally getting better, but it’s starting to slow. This next week / 10 days will tell us a lot. Pleased to see deaths low today (77), but you could argue that in reality it’s 84 hospital deaths, whereas on Monday 25th May there were 76, and the last 14 days have seen a slower decline. Its fascinating for a geek like me to watch the numbers, even though they are so frustrating to monitor. They require several calculations to get to anything that is worth tracking. But it passes the time of day.
semblar
When (no idea timescales) they do start to allow fans back in, I can imagine it would be a nightmare trying to work out who sits where.
