1960maaan
May be of interest to some. The end of March 1970 saw City lose away at Spurs in the FA youth cup semi, 2-0. I have no idea what the score was in the return at Ashton Gate, but we didn't get to the final. Maybe @Never to the dark side could help with the score? Anyway, what is interesting is the line ups, fair few made to step up to the first teams, some got fame else where.
RedRock
Fascinating stuff. Thanks for posting. Never knew Souness was on Spurs books.
candygram for mongo
I was at that game, crowd of 10000 plus I seem to remember. Can not remember score, might have been a draw, Spurs went on to win trophy (again, I think)
headhunter
Noticed from the home leg programme showing pictures from the Leeds game that a certain John Shaw was in goal for the the visitors - he went on to play 285 games for us 1974-1985

miser
I went to the home game , 0-0 I recall. Probably the best youth 11 that we have had and the foundation for eventual promotion to Division

Both teams included players that were to be among their best of all time.

Yet another 1960maaan thread which starts with around 112 zillion photos being posted in the OP! You’ve done it for years! Well played ‘maaan’ you’re relentless Chief! A lot of effort obviously goes into all these pic montages - superb stuff! Keep going! And for people who find they are scrolling down relentlessly on their iPhones desperately trying to locate the second post on his or her threads, just keep going! It’ll be worth it in the end ... North London Red
I love these sorts of threads. Just googled a couple of the Spurs players and it turns out that despite not making a first team appearance for Spurs, Almond played against Souness at the 1982 World Cup (Almond emigrated in the early 70s and ended up playing for New Zealand). And Ray Clarke won the Eredivisie with Ajax, scoring 26 goals in 31 games - can’t say I’d ever heard of him until just now, and his career in England before moving to Holland wasn’t particularly stellar.
