The way football is run is not sustainable and was never going to take much to effect it. It was finally balanced as it was in perfect conditions. Greedo
maybe not the most important consideration right now, but do we think City might be better placed than other Champ clubs after all of this? If finances for transfers are going to be depleted, will we with all our future planning and ‘ones for the future’, will we be more equipped to compete and hold on to players who otherwise might be attracting interest? If finances for transfers are going to be depleted, will we with all our future planning and ‘ones for the future’, will we be more equipped to compete and hold on to players who otherwise might be attracting interest? It is more than likely that some ( possibly many) clubs will be forced into fire sales, both to reduce wages and also to bring money in in order to bolster their finances. While it might result in some bargain buys being available, it would surely deflate transfer fees. While our policy of buying ones for the future might then stand us in good stead, our business model for sustainability has relied on being able to sell those players for a profit, and those profits then covering the losses we make, mainly due to the age bill. The wage bill will be the same post covid, so if the transfer market is deflated, and with less clubs able to , or looking to buy players, then we might struggle to sell or get anything like the fees would would have expected and might need to bring in. Without transfer fee income we could easily run into ffp problems , but I suspect that ffp is likely to be the least of football's worries in the next few months and into next year.
