Recommended Posts

With apologies to @AppyDAZE, what ten movies would you take to your desert island? For the purposes of this thread you can have films that are split over two or three separate episodes (like The Lord Of The  Rings or Kill Bill) as one choice.

Mine

Blazing Saddles

Life Of Brian

Kill Bill

Pulp Fiction

The Outlaw Josey Wales

Lord Of The Rings

The Godfather trilogy

Kelly`s Heroes

The Warriors

The Matrix trilogy

Depends who you are with on the desert island. Choice of movies can then be determined and how much Lube you may need.

Pulp Fiction

Casablanca

Shenandoah

Saving Private Ryan

Thee Big Sleep

To have and have not.

Shawshank Redemption

Midnight Express

All films that I’ve watched numerous times and never tire of them. To me that’s an indication of a fantastic film.

2 films I didn't consider for my 10. Both would be in contention.

Once Upon A Time In America and Raging Bull would be others.

It’s personal taste. OtiK

This place would desperately dull if we all had the same taste in music, films and books.

My proper list:

Godfather II

China Town

Shawshank Redemption

Bridge on the River Kwai

Tin Cup ( only because I identify so much with a couple of scenes - sadly not the ones involving Rene Russo!)

North By North West ( got to have one with Bristol's own Archie)

Lawrence of Arabia

Out of Africa ( Mrs Downend's favourite but brilliant score and leading actors)

The Departed

My Cousin Vinny

Star wars

Lord of the Rings

Heat

Shawshank

Godfather

Full Metal Jacket

Terminator

Predator

Alien

Fast n Furious (guilty pleasure and there's like a hundred of them so good time value)

As you can probably tell I don't really watch films that try and make me think.  That's what reading is for.
