Bristol Rob
I know it gets a mention in a couple of threads, but a lot of supports (including me) won't have used the old one, let alone the new one. So just getting ready for the inevitable flood of helpdesk type questions there are likely to be. A quick question for historical users, did it contain a Flash component? It would explain why it they've taken a new platform, given that Flash dies a firey death in a few months.
View from the Dolman
Pretty sure it didn't use Flash. It was provided by StreamAMG and I certainly wouldn't expect them to have been deploying stuff over the last year or two using Flash.
Unan
Definitely wouldn't have used Flash. It'll be made in a language that has built in browser capabilities. The problem is it's a relatively shit service, rather than a problem on the browers end.

Whenever I’ve been abroad it’s been very reliable with decent quality picture.

My rough plan is device on mute, and either Radio Bristol (if they are aligned) commentary, or just no telly noise and banging tunes.

I'm Sparti-Bob
I wonder how compatible it is with browsers built into smart TVs (which broadly speaking don't get the most regular updates), and does anyone know if it will allow you to cast from your phone to your TV? The old platform didn't work on browsers on TVs. On casting - I don't know. I used to use - and will use - a laptop connected to a TV with an HDMI cable. grubby
Used a laptop, chrome browser, and hdmi lead to TV. Very good picture this season, very little break up, other than when there was an electrical fault at the ground. Not sure about smart TV, may have to try as just bought Sony android tv. Works well on phone or tablet as well.

Casting was a no no. Whether the new platform allows this remains to be seen.

I have often mirrored the screen from my phone which works ok, resolution can be a bit funny though. This is using a chromecast and the google home app on android, not sure of the process on other devices.
Steve Watts
Will be interesting to see how the system copes with a few thousand extra people accessing it at once. Should be ok in this day and age, but you never know.

Can you let me know step by step how to do this? It would be good if City could do a dummy trial so people could get used to how to use it before kick off, I can see me catching the last five minutes after failing to understand technology! Sure it will all be fine though, with no problems at all.

You can buy one of these; https://store.google.com/gb/product/chromecast_ultra (Connects into hdmi port on tv) You then create a link between it and your pc / Mac and cast / mirror the video on your pc / Mac to your tv. Its like a wireless hdmi cable, if that makes sense. For you Mac users without an hdmi port buy a dongle with hdmi out like this; MOKiN USB/Type C Hub 5 in 1 to HDMI Adapter with 2 USB 3.0 Ports,SD/TF Card Reader compatible with MacBook Pro 2019/2018/2017, MacBook Air 2018, Huawei Google Chromebook Samsung Galaxy and More https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077T4FBSP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tau_lw34EbEFZQEEE I use it rather than mirror my Mac screen to Samsung Smart tv, because a wire is always more stable than without. McNasty Filth
For me its all about the ping, as another member informed when I asked the ? previously, but then again that was via VPN so the ping rate is always gonna increase slightly, so VPN is not gonna be relevant for upcoming matches. Ping best described in my own layman's terms is how quick your computer and router pass information between each other, which results in less break-ups, black screens, freezing etc. This is all down to the quality of said router. Was using a TalkTalk router one year ago, which wasn't very good. Now switched to Vodafone and its far superior. Both on fibre. Quality was fantastic on macbook linked to TV via HDMI. The only thing you'll notice compared to a good quality TV internet screen from BT, Amazon etc, is motion blur because of low refresh rates.
