handballbygordonparr
Well it looks like we have 6 no pressure competitive games to play. What do we do to help prepare to 'go again' next season? What about; play everyone in their best position don't play COd pick a formation and try it for 3 games in a row shoot occasionally try a new head coach give some specialist assistant coaches a go buy some more expensive players ask Lee what everyone else is doing wrong
Admin phantom Posted July 1, 2020 Admin Report Share Posted July 1, 2020 In theory a good idea But on the basis we have no idea how many of the players will be with us next season, or even if and when next season will start

Possibly assess the squad, if a new man was appointed. I'm sure we know the majority of players that will be at the club for next season, unless the manager is kept on. In which case, there might be a few wanting to leave.

Dastardly and Muttley
.......................Bentley Vyner....Kalas......Baker.....Dasilva ............Massengo.....Nagy Palmer................................Eliasson ..................Wells....Afobe Back to the 4-2-2-2 that’s done well on occasions. Give Vyner a run to earn a position amongst what will probably be our back 5 next season. Give Massengo, Nagy and Palmer a run of games. Play Afobe and Wells to see if they can form a partnership that means it’s worth buying Afobe. O’Dowda in for Eliasson if NE is off this summer. Harry
I only have 6 very simple pieces of advice. Game 1 - Don’t play O’Dowda. Game 2 - Don’t play O’Dowda. Game 3 - Don’t play O’Dowda. Game 4 - Don’t play O’Dowda. Game 5 - Don’t play O’Dowda. Game 6 - Don’t play O’Dowda.
Silvio Dante
This is where I don’t get the argument that there’s no point in getting rid of LJ now and waiting until the end of the season. Realistically, playoffs are gone. Where we are is safe, and if we as likely finish roughly where we are now, we all expect SL to act. A new man coming in now could use these six games as a free hit to size up the squad and work out exactly what’s needed next year with no pressure. A final, similar, thought. Two years ago, for different reasons, Mad Mick was leaving Ipswich at the end of the season. He ended up resigning 4 games before the end. Paul Hurst came in but not until after the season ended. Ipswich went down the following year. If the players know a manager is highly unlikely to be there next year and a vacuum is created, that can lead to countless issues. If he gonna go he’s got to go now. No point waiting.
Admin phantom Posted July 2, 2020 Admin Report Share Posted July 2, 2020 I guess that there is only point in getting rid of him as long as there is someone to come in and replace him? Otherwise we are just treading water for the next 6 games

At least a new manager would get to assess and offer assurances to those who will be part of the new guys plans. Big decisions need to be made around certain players futures - Eliasson, Smith, Palmer to name but a few and I’d hate to think we’d be making those decisions without a new man having had a look. As said many times, this is a crucial time. We need to act fast.
