Pronounciation of Nagy's surname

Clearly, this is a small issue. However, given we have a footballing genius for a manager that is always looking at marginal gains, I wonder if Johnson's given any thought to even attempting to pronounce Nagy's surname correctly? Surely at some point he has realised that nobody else calls him 'Nagee' and given the various rumours about him struggling to settle into the UK you might think Nagy's boss would make at least a cursory effort to get his not at all difficult surname right.

Nagy was excellent today especially first half.

He was good at playing 5 yard passes between himself and the other midfielders but the times he tried anything remotely more expansive is was overhit, underhit, inaccurate or weak. There was one cross field ball he attempted from the right flank over to Dasilva. He appeared to give it his absolute all, and it failed to get past the other side of the box - very weak legs.

Not as weak as his defending against Ameobi at right back. Hilarious to watch

Yep. He’s nowhere near the same quality.
As Henry just said, watching his effort to tackle Ameobi in the corner near the end was hilarious. Looked like a little boy trying to get the ball off his dad.
Then for Lolley’s good chance in the first half he stood still while his man went through. Then he nearly gifted a goal with a slack back pass under no pressure.
But he was very good at passing it 5 yards and he ran around a bit. Top show.

He might be pronouncing it "Nagy" instead of "Naj" because that's what the players refer to him as. Not saying it's appropriate, but just a theory.

I'm just waiting for the conspiracy that LJ's doing it on purpose being 'mean' because he and Nagy have a falling out because of someone making of a rumour ?

I think you'll find that it's pronounced NUAJ.

In the English language the letters tell you it should be NAJEE but it is completely different in fact, NUAJ.

You can apply the same rationale to bristol rovers football club. They don't mind where they pitch up and they're certainly not a football club.

It's a Hungarian thing.

We had a long thread on this when he signed.

I understood it was pronounced Nage - with a long A, as in apple, and a soft -GE ending, as in Luge.
