Silvio Dante
About 18 months ago, my wife bust her ankle. As a result, I had to accompany my daughter to Hamilton in London (matinee, kept track of city scores, won 1-0 at Forest). Subsequently went to NYC and paid for the wife/daughter to see it on broadway. They’ve both seen it again in London. Anyway, today the film is out on streaming. Original cast on stage. I am not a musicals man by any stretch. But genuinely, it is amazing. It’s - like Mormon - a musical for people who don’t like musicals. So, has anyone else seen it or intending to, including streaming on Disney plus, or is it still just a bit uncool?

Its superb, so different and lyrically incredible. I bought tickets the day they went on sell, 1 year before I saw it. I was a bit disappointed and do think its been overhyped (i am. A massive musical buff) however it's still incredibly good and brought a new, younger audience into the West End. It has to be up there with Sondhiem and ALW in terms of work. So much of it is genius. I am borrowing my friends Disney+ login to watch it this weekend.
The Batman
Mrs Batman loves the theatre shows. She always has a go at me if there's a film on which I can recite by saying the line before it comes on. Yet last night, when we're watching Hamilton, there she goes, singing all the songs just before they're sung. I didn't mind. It was very good. Being in the theatre is much better but for those who don't do theatre productions, it's a good starting point to get people interested. When all this is over. I imagine she'll want to go and see it in New York. Mind you I promised I'd take her to see Wicked first which is her favourite. Might be an expensive holiday next time we go. BS2 Red
I was going to watch it quite late last night but noticed it was 2 hours 40 minutes long. Going to bed seemed liked a better thing to do. I'll get around to it. I'm not much of a musical fan, but I've heard good things about this one.

I think it was something like 600 dollars I paid for my wife and daughter to do broadway. Ouch.
Super
Anyone else think this thread was going to be about Lewis?!

Yeah from memory of when we were last there I can believe that. On top of the ticket costs, you then have a programme, plus drinks, dinner beforehand. It all adds up. internetjef
I am going to watch it with the Mrs this weekend she really likes musicals / theatre but I’m not generally keen I’ve only seen... Mormon in London ( love South Park) avenue q on broadway (rec from friend who thought my sense of humour) lion king at hippodrome (free tickets / like the movie) moulin rouge in Paris (still a bit dull Even though I was well oiled and there was loads of boobs ha) one of the bellagio cirque shows in Vegas (sounded intriguing, was pretty impressive to be fair) i am really happy this has made it to Disney+ as I’ve heard all the buzz but wouldn’t have paid through the nose to see it live

Ouch. As you can tell from my username I like musical theatre and a certain show in particular. When in Broadway last November managed to meet the cast from Phantom and still keep in touch with a few of them. Hamilton is one show I've not seen but am really looking forward to seeing. Need to free up enough time to give it my full concentration

BS2 Red
I got around to watching it. I was actually really impressed, I don't usually like musicals but this entertained me from beginning to end. I wouldn't go out to see it, but it's well worth a watch on TV.

Admin phantom Posted August 12, 2020 Admin Report Share Posted August 12, 2020 Realised that I had never gotten around to watching this before, so am watching it now Finding it hard to keep up with the story as the songs are so fast paced and I had no previous idea what the story was about
