Maybe you need to do a bit more research.  I can lend you the book if you are interested.

They weren't socialists, and Hitler hated the term.

That is a rabbit hole this thread does not need!

Hughton always reminds me of the phrase "it's the quiet one you've got to watch".

He's not one you hear much about. Not a Warnock or a Big Sam who people love to discuss and on whom everyone has an opinion. That's made me think he's too quiet, but maybe I am misjudging him. He's proven he can get teams promoted from this division. He must therefore be able to get players believing in his football and motivated to implement it.

Whether that football is pretty to watch I am not sure. Really all I know of his style is how his team's have played against us. My memory is fuzzy even then.

So, having spent some time considering it, I'm on board. As some have said I'm not "excited" by the possible appointment; but I am intrigued to see where this goes.

Ps. To those discussing Nazis. Cock off to the politics forum.

No, I'm ok thanks. Nazi's weren't socialists, they actively fought them!

Correct. To call Nazis socialist shows a lack of understanding of the term.

Marvellous, this is why OTIB is such a joy here we are on a thread about the potential employment of Chris Hughton discussing the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

If we're going start mixing football with conspiracy theories, we may just as well appoint David Ike.

Gregor: "So David, it was a big defeat. What went wrong today?"

Icke: "Well... first of all, that referee is a shape-shifting lizard. They'll fine me for saying that, but it has to be said. Secondly, I've always suspected that Preston North End use microchips in their players heads that enhance their performance. That needs to be looked at..."

What book is that? And is it just the one book? It's generally accepted by political historians that the term 'socialist' in the Nazi's title did not refer to the more general description of socialism. Although, mass public works and investment in the core human infrastructure could be construed as socialist in nature, their other behaviours (autocracy, belief in a master race, etc) were diametrically opposed.

PM me the title. There's no need to fill up the thread with more irrelevant posts, but your initial statement was pretty wide of the mark so I'd be interested in finding out what your sources for it were.

I'd love to know the book, it p15535 me off no end all this "Nazis were socialists therefore socialists are nazis" crap, usually from people whose understanding of political thought comes from a chip wrapper
