I do find this strange, surely any news regarding Holden would be that he's accepted the job, not offered it? I can't see that he'd decline.

Well he has bound to have been aware of a lot of ‘noise’ about his potential about becoming our  NEW HC ahead of others who are clearly fans choice.

The names came up after MA said the time has been long simply because they wanted to see who became available after the season ended... Eddie Howe was mentioned and when somebody mentioned Holden .. a lot of laughs and someone said.. oh no that would not be a good idea... Either MA is an extraordinarily good actor, probably, or he wears his heart on his sleeve and telling it like it is... My friend left the barbers thinking City must be going in a completely new direction. Let's see. I thought that was pretty decent of MA to reveal those anecdotes.

Then this is quite clearly a Lansdown appointment. Wonder how much Ma's nose will be put out of joint.

Ok chaps..... According to MA through my friend who was having a hair cut at the same time, locale not to be mentioned, the conversation was all about.... A new beginning, a fresh approach... A few names came up...

When was this conversation?

If Holden were to get it you mean. Time will reveal. I am not believing a journalist.

So after five weeks of doing a remarkably good job keeping everything quiet the CEO blabs away on the morning of the job offer in the barbers? Really?

If you read what I wrote he has not exactly said much other than taking the club in a new direction. It felt upbeat. Howes name came up probably mentioned by a customer and probably got the nod... Along with others of that Ilk.

The overall point being is that the interpretation and feeling was Mark was a million miles away from Holden... But who knows. He does not have the last say.

I new Holden was on holiday, but crikey. Where the hell did he go.

Erm, why would the club wait until Dean was back in Bristol before offering him the job?  The whole world is operating by phone or zoom at the moment.  Makes absolutely no sense.  Oh, and why would Jamie Mac be sacked (if indeed he has been) if a manager hasn’t been appointed?  Makes even less sense.

I still wonder, even at the 11th hour 59th minute that this may be a smokescreen which can only be to avoid paying Wigan compensation for Cook.

??????

I'd expect administrators to chase things- did you know in 2001, Simon Jordan took out an injunction with respect to Steve Bruce which delayed him taking over at Birmingham?

Administrators have a legal right, if not duty to pursue all avenues aggressively- Jordan v Bruce sets a precedent, Bruce actually had to sit on gardening leave for a number of weeks, 4-6 perhaps as club refused to accept his resignation and Jordan relented when he found a new manager but was in no hurry. Could have been 8-9 weeks ie mid January until next hearing with even a possibility of 9 months stuck in limbo albeit still being paid until summer 2002.

If Cook was found- or perceived to- have quit Wigan under false pretences, again I'd expect administrators to explore all avenues. For compensation in any case. I'd be pursuing/exploring it relentlessly if I was the administrator. I'd argue rightly so?

For what it's worth my take on today's proceedings fall broadly as follows... There was negotiation and agreement with a Manager but no room for Jamie Mac. The quid pro quo was the new Manager would accept Dean Holden as head coach because the board truly value the work he has done at the club; let's just say more than Jamie who was a very unfortunate pawn in the negotiation.

Dean has now gone home, saddened he has lost both Lee and Jamie and with the prospect of working under a new Manager and another coach... A good offer but he is unsure he will accept.

That to me sounds a lot closer to reality.

The post by McGregor is simply a tease to us fans and I don't personally take kindly to it but he may have been asked to say it exactly like that until the finer details of Howe or Hughton s contract is agreed.

Let's wait and see folks.

For now, it serves little purpose getting upset, angry and throwing vitriol especially at our brilliant owner.

I hope it is Hughton, Cook or Jokanovic. Or Howe perhaps, though I think that's less than likely but we'll see.

Agree on this most certainly- there are many poor, incompetent or slippery owners out there- it could be much worse. Having said that I think SLis/was markedly better than his son!

If this were true (appreciate It’s an assumption) it would be a horrible parlour trick to play on fans who irrationally love this club.

I soooooo hope you are correct.

It really doesn’t add up ... unless SL has lost patience with the footballing side of his sporting empire, which given the dross that LJ has served up for the last 2 years I can understand.

Or a subtle 2 fingers up at some of the fans on here not to beleive everything that gets tweeted.

If it does turn out to be Hughton or Cook i'm sure there will be lots of threads on here saying how we have the best, most ambitious board and we'll be in the PL season after next.
