James54De
It’s another appointment that gives us a sense of stability. I’d imagine he’ll serve at least 3 years no matter what happens. Manager pay outs are quite large so we’ve probably saved a wedge compared to other teams that go through 2/3 managers a season

The Dolman Pragmatist
Back in the 1980s, when I worked for a trade union, Chris Hughton used to write a football column for a newspaper called Newsline, which was the paper of the WRP (the Workers Revolutionary Party, one of three Trotskyist groupings at the time alongside Militant and the SWP). I remember the paper being sold on picket lines in the dark days of Thatcher. Surely one of the few footballers to come out as overtly left wing. Wonder what his politics are these days? For what many fans regard as the most important appointment for years, how would those fans have reacted had we moved quickly and announced the appointment of Leeds' first team coach 10 days ago? Also it's relatively easy to make a quick appointment when you are offering a first team coach the job managing a championship club, and he won't need to uproot his family, as the new job is just along the road.
