Furious Custard
https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/city-break-ground-on-new-training-facility/ No all external. Perhaps a planning issue to do with building height?. Don't know the benefits of internal vs external. But seeing as all our games are played outside (minus the odd visit to Wembley!) It makes sense to practice outside. Also worth noting the covered rugby pitch does not offer much in the way of height, they won't be doing much kicking practice inside. I think an indoor training pitch is part of getting Cat 1 academy status (could someone confirm?), if that is the case maybe we have joint use of the Rugby facility? Or maybe we have plans after this development is complete. I'd like use to get Cat 1 ASAP.
Midlands Robin
We could always rig a temporary structure over one of the outdoor pitches. There may be a contact in Horfield at the old rugby ground who could give us some tips, especially after we got them a new TV.
Unan
Don't think Cat 1 really means a lot, Sunderland have had Cat 1 for years and produced next to nothing, lose their young players to other clubs, and aren't able to sign any upcoming talent. Talking younger than that, not sure what happens once they reach the games programme, not sure why they'd lose player so much unless its voluntarily. YorksRed
Yes seems odd that we are not getting an indoor facility too - if Mark Ashton is as good as he claims to be he’d have negotiated a BOGOF on what the rugby club has! More seriously Im sure it would have been considered and there is a good reason why not and sharing with the rugby club when the weather is really bad must be a possibility. TonyTonyTony
The bears training ground looks impressive - didn’t it open up this week? I’m sure we could borrow their internal space if needed. Wouldn’t it have made more sense, however (and economical) to have a shared, bigger training place? The site where the bears are based is massive

I would imagine that in the event of prolonged terrible weather, the rugby facility would be made available to the football club. Restricted height so not such an issue as it is in rugby and might discourage some of our hoofers..
