I know that many of you on here were  members of the Junior Reds back in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s where there were many awaydays and the club room, formerly behind the Williams and latterly under the Dolman.

The main man running the Junior Reds, which took up many hours and with many stresses, all for nothing, was my father, John Banks. Even after ceasing involvement in the Junior Reds, he continued to attend every home game in the South stand despite deteriorating health.

John died today at the age of 72. Fittingly, the team won for him and he passed shortly after the final whistle.

RIP Dad. Proud of you and the work you did at our great club.

RIP John.

He would have been so happy you were proud of him.

Extremely sad news . Fond memories of the junior reds with John home and away . A very special man with a lovely family . They don’t make em like him anymore . Treated us all like his family and no different when my two lads became members . Remember nearly getting filled in at Bolton when we sat in with the home supporters .
A privilege to know him .

I was thinking of that game earlier tonight. Think we had a fairly full away end so they put us in with the home fans.  Didn't bother us one bit although if I remember correctly John did ask us to calm it down a bit!

I think we thought we was junior CSF!!

Remember the locals being  not too impressed . Think it was the game when Super Bob lasted 10 minutes and with that our title hopes gone .
Great times . He loved the City and that rubbed off on us . One of a kind .

I was mascot at that game! Remember thinking before we could go up on that day and then it went wrong.

Seriously all, many thanks. It’s a huge comfort to see how well dad is thought of and what a difference he made to so many people. Genuinely appreciated xx
