Getting those people into the outdoors, around other people (safely distanced) and into an activity they can enjoy themselves in (well its city) would be my preference. Maybe I've been endangered more by having to work during this period, but losing my job and having no social contact would be worse for me. So I'd like those vulnerable folks prioritised first over myself. Well said Prinny.

I would prefer if anyone in the NHS rather than their enormous external supply chain had first refusal. Why if you are a key worker who had to go work every day as normal all over the covid time it shouldn't matter what that job was you where still risking your life, I work in a supermarket distribution center that makes me a key worker, where I work covid killed one and hospitalised many some who are still not well enough to work, no one clapping us for keeping everyone from going hungry, If city did key worker then all key worker should be treated the same

Kibs
It’s about so much more than just watching the game for me, I’d have no interest at all In going and probably won’t until we are back at full or near to full capacity. OldlandReddies
I was in town Saturday and everyone was sensible and social distancing. Pubs /restaurants have done a fantastic job in 'policing' the virus and adhering to Govt requests. I'm sure our football clubs will be no different and I'd feel very comfortable/safe returning.
t_b
If we progress tomorrow night & all is well with this procedure, presumably we would have two home games next week where we could offer up home tickets... Makes it a bit easier to engage the fan base if 2,000 can attend games.

An EFL spokesman said: "The EFL remains in discussions with the government about the pilot programme which may include a limited number of further pilot matches during September with capacity limited to 1,000. "The league is clear in its view that social distancing can be applied safely in football stadia and that having crowds at matches is an absolutely essential part of helping to protect club finances, which remain under extreme pressure. Therefore, the successful delivery of further pilots w be an important step towards getting larger number of fans into grounds safely. No thank you. I would love to watch live football again soon, I really would, however now is not the time, in my opinion. Covid cases in the UK are on the rise. France started to let fans in to watch games since July 11th, and look how that situation has unfolded. (Not saying the increase in cases there is purely down to allowing fans in to sporting events though) We are basically allowing fans to attend games at the same time France did in terms of the number of active Covid cases, and this could well result in a sudden surge in cases and a compete backfire. Just my own opinion though, of course.

Sir Geoff
Not sure what happened re allocation of tickets for the Brighton Chelsea experiment but my guess would be that for any test event the 1000 tickets will be allocated to those living within a 2/3 mile radius of Ashton Gate thus reducing the use of public transport. Living 70 miles away I expect to be at the back of the queue.

BarnzFM
We’ve just had restrictions imposed and we’re thinking of letting crowds watch football again - it seems crazy imo. As for the idea of prioritising the elderly and those shielding, it doesn’t seem sensible given their vulnerability!

wayne allisons tongues
It does seem a bit barmy infection rates increasing, stopping people from mixing in households but we are going to let a 1000 people into a football match. Non league I understand normally open spaces and can spread out. Champ PL grounds are partially enclosed and with lots of concourses surely the chances of spreading the virus increase. Its ok clubs saying we need fans to survive but there is a reason why it’s not been done before and has been cut from 2500 to 1000 and that’s fans safety. More or less what happened with Rugby. You either gave your refund 'to the academy' and got a guaranteed 'free' ticket to the first game to be open for fans or got a ticket credit with 1st dibs to buy a ticket. One suspects the tickets will be about £40/£50 each.

May even suggest that’s something clubs will be asked to enforce (maybe fans when applying do a self declaration) I think all the club can do is ask for expressions of interest (including on a family basis to avoid an 8 year old getting a ticket with no adult!) and then randomly select. Polls showing about 50/50 at present My thinking exactly...though me getting a ticket and my own 8 year old not getting one would also be a very hazardous situation! (for my wife, anyway! ) I still think I'd want to see how the first few go before taking him down there though in all honesty... If it was safe why not 2500 not just 1000. I know clubs have to start somewhere just seems pressure is mounting to get fans in from clubs for there own survival and to save a bit of money. I volunteer at a non league club in Manchester so know how much work is involved to get games on. We are limited to 300 and have to temp check each person, contract details and make sure each person or group is distanced even though they are outside. Cannot open indoor bar for enclosed space so outside cabin only available for food and drink. I also believe it’s FA Vase this weekend and as it’s grassroots football i have been told everyone on the bench now has to wear a mask. Seems the rules are getting stricter.
