I have got to the point where I kind of don’t care anymore...no one knows what is happening with Hughton, I will welcome and be positive and supportive in respect to whoever comes in.

i just want nonsense like this to end and for the new manager to come in and get busy.

So I’m hearing bringing Glenn to assist with a younger coach, as one of the options on table.....

If I recall you've got a mate in our scouting department.. did he tell you this then or you've got other contacts as well now?

I said a while ago that when Tinman was appointed he should have had someone working alongside him and the same for Johnson, probably not Glenn Hoddle though

All joking aside, Hoddle was an incredible player at spurs, Monaco, Chelsea and even got Swindon promoted to the prem as a player manager. I remember him on football focus as a kid and he was talking about 352 and sweepers back when everything was still 442. Plus when you hear Shearer and Rio talking about his knowledge of the technical side of the game when he managed them for England, having that brain behind our team would hopefully be a recipe for some football that is easy on the eyes. Although he is a pundit now, at least he has been a manager, at the very top level, for Chelsea, spurs, and the good old three lions.

Just saying.

I wonder if our board did a “What went wrong” post LJ meeting, the type that all business do, a review, and wondered if it would have gone better with an old, experienced hand helping him out. Maybe this is a “brainstorm” at how they fix the formula, of how to fit a young, up and coming manager, into the “five pillars” system. It seems a very corporate type response. “What went wrong?” “How can we do the same again but better?” “What can change with the least disruption?” It’s almost like when a company hires a specialist from elsewhere to patch a flaw in their system.

It might even mean that they are considering how to keep Holden on? Who knows.

Even at 36 and olaying sweeper Hoddle was the best player I have ever seen and was a class above every player in the old league one bar none. Rumour has it he left most of the training to John Gorman and was stand off ish with the players but if true it worked for us

I remember on a recent documentary of England managers that Shearer and Rio said one of the problems that they feel Hoddle faced as an England manager was that when he trained with them, it was clear that he was still better than half the team and his skill put some of the players to shame (not with any intentions to, I am sure.)

Weren't the club considering a Director of Football role? Would that work for someone like Hoddle (someone who has had a heart attack)?

I can imagine the board sitting at their boardroom table and thinking about the problem of such a short pre-season, worrying about a new manager having the time to analyse such a big squad. They may therefore not want to lose the knowledge of the players that Holden has, especially if they feel that Holden’s general attitude gains respect from the players, as I can imagine he is well liked. This is a solution that I can imagine them brainstorming.

Fantastic talent and imagine him today playing for Man City

Hoddle probably the most advanced football brain in terms of philosophy and understanding of the game this country has seen in the last thirty years. Shame some of his off field beliefs have cost him!

Would love to see him assisting a younger coach, but wouldn't wanna see potential bad vibes on the touchline in terms of his health.

I had a heart attack 21 years ago, followed by a triple bypass....should I never work again? should I have retired there and then? It's a nonsense. Having a heart attack doesnt mean you should stop leading a life you need to. Cut the crap, dont smoke, light exercise, learn to relax and you're there.
