Based on our game against them at the back end of last season, I'd say that Rooney not being involved would be great for us.

He oozed class, was streets ahead of ever player on the pitch and totally controlled their fightback which could easily have resulted in then turning around a 3 goal deficit.

Not the rampaging attacker that he once was, but absolute quality and coolness personified.

Ahhh Bakinson will have him in his pocket tomorrow.

May as well update this.

First half of the season all but done. As we know matchday 23 is now on Wednesday 13th January.

24 games 116 days. Plus any Cup games should we win vs Portsmouth.

The International break in March looks tricky, with the games thereafter.

From a quick search, potentially:

Czech Republic-Kalas- 3 games.

Hungary- Nagy- 3 games.

Republic of Ireland- O'Dowda- 2 games.

Senegal and Bermuda- Diedhiou and Wells- 2 games apiece, both scheduled World Cup qualifiers.

Scheduled to host Stoke at 3pm on Good Friday ie 2nd April, away to Coventry Easter Monday, 3pm ie 5th April.

The way we are playing, don’t think we need to worry overmuch.  Doubt many of them will play all international minutes available, some will simply sit on the bench, and yet others will be lucky to be selected in the first place.

Nagy seems quite important for Hungary and he's had been in decent form for us in recent times.

Kalas again has recently been one of our better players, possibly Czech Republic have more depth than Hungary so whether he's a guaranteed starter who knows.

Wells is I suspect one of Bermuda's better players.

Senegal have better than Diedhiou up front, O'Dowda seems in and out for Ireland.

No idea if DaSilva or Massengo considered for Under 21 and below anymore.
