Andy082005
Part of me has been wondering if Eddie Howe was our number one target all along Lots of talk that regardless of whether they stayed up or not, he was leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season. Maybe he (through agents) had agreed verbally to come here. I know people believe he could do better, but the reality is he likes living down South. There's no better opportunity available for him where he doesn't have to relocate Maybe it was the plan all along before deciding that he actually needed some time away from the game . Something has clearly happened . I don't believe for one second this process has taken 5 weeks and we end up with Holden as he is the best man for the job Something must have happened that we are not privvy to
Fpcity
Well if it is Dean I guess we'd have to get behind him. My concern is that if the board have decided on him based on the few games at the end of the season then that's wrong. We had nothing to loose/play for hence why he probably went with Andi and Pato in midfield, can't see that happening with something to play for. Few players won't be here who played well like Benkovic. 2nd the stories that the players like him? To me it could mean that they see him as a soft touch and can get away with playing badly, training poor etc and not run the risk of a bollocking which they'd get with a more high profile manager like Hughton especially if we're not going to be too active in the transfer market. Safe places in the team as we're not going to play too many youngsters

Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan
Little off topic maybe, but whilst looking through the poll and who voted where I thought it was amusing that some Saghead would burn his ST if we appoint Hughton. TomThumb84
It all points to this: We thought it would be easy to appoint a high profile replacement for LJ based on clubs own opinion of themselves Potential high profile appointments don’t want to work with the constraints of the structure of the club Divisions within said hierarchy around reduction/relinquishing of responsibility to high profile appointment Dean Holden identified as the option that appeases all under a blanket of pandemic/financial concerns Massive mis-judgment of fan base mood regarding potential appointment and the fact that this is almost impossible to spin or justify based on “on the record” interviews and transcript pointing to the exact opposite of appointing from within again And as we speak probably some sort of fire-fight/damage limitation meeting around best way out of this entire mess after nearly 5 weeks It smacks of mis-judgment at best or being inwardly conceited and self-indulgent at worst If the club reaches its first, second, third or even fourth choice and it’s taken this long to thrash out then that’s barely understandable, but to blatantly dis-regard/ignore their own intentions with this appointment and therefore appoint based on a set of objectives that they stated categorically and then choose to ignore is ridiculous. How many have we actually bought that we’ve progressed on?

Can you imagine someone like "Big Sam" sitting underneath Ashton? There's only one way we'd have a DOF, and that will only happen if/when Ashton leaves to "concentrate on his position on the EFL board".

I don’t believe this is true but if it was a combination of Big Sam an Holden it would make more sense to have Sam as head coach and Holden as assistant. Allardyce often get some stick as his teams are often described as dull. I’d prefer to describe his approach as pragmatic, which is definitely no worse than the LJ style of football. The difference is Sam gets results and LJ doesn’t
