Of it was anyone that exciting and decent, surely they would have the main role and DH be his assistant

Anyone worth anything in the game as a coach, surely wouldn't be coming in to be the right hand man to someone with no experience which is the case with DH

Presumably an old boy who knows the game inside out but really doesn't need the "stress" that goes with matchday and day to day coaching of the club. Literally there to give advice when he thinks it's needed or when it's asked for?

Glenn would certainly knows how to sort out a "situation" (if you've ever head him commentate)......and we do currently have a "situation" on our hands.

Just been dropped from the England commentary team.

And interestingly it is Eddie Howe’s assistant....

Sure is but that must have been their plan straight away, not waiting 5 weeks, saying we need a new outlook and then taking on someone with less experience than who we just sacked

Not sure what that has to do with things tbh.

And I think he's never been "out" of football.

Its massively to do with it. As Graham C says being involved day to day with a football club will take a certain amount of strain on anyone - would Hoddle at his age with his previous health be up to it? Lets all remember the last time he was properly involved day to day with a club was in 2006 - some time ago...

It has a fair bit to do with it.

Day to day football involvement is far more stressful than summarising on a match every few weeks.

You don't have a heart attack for life.

Some people actually get fixed and lead an active life.

Anyway, its just a suggestion that someone put forward as a possible incoming some time ago.

I've been saying for years (10+)to someone that we need hoddle at the club as a joke. Would be great if it came true

Indeed, the analysts have been working to him, the player database is his and he keeps firing chief scouts. Bringing in a DoF who is actually qualified for the role clips his wings. I'm not sure his ego can take that.

GMG said a number of analysts have also now left the club.

Maurizio Sarri has just been sacked by Juventus.

Rumours are he threw the game last night as there was a top DOF job on offer in England , can’t find our more at the moment
