Barca v Bayern

Wow.

Let’s hope this is the future of football. Aggressive, high tempo, quick forward-passing, attacking football.

Attack previous to the third they had 7 players on the edge of Barca’s penalty box. Brilliant.

Now 4!

barcelona have been poor at the back for a while , they buckle under pressure(remember liverpool). they have been a magnificent team in the last decade a joy to watch, but they are starting to look ordinary and obviously messi is getting no younger.

Yes, they haven’t looked the same side at all this season, a bit of a re-building job will be done I imagine. I read that Xavi was offered the job earlier in the season, but declined it. They haven’t looked good since this new manager came in.

Let’s hope our new coaching team are watching this!

Think the last lot -obviously barring Dean (!) - were students of the backward, sideways passing ‘crab’ movement of the mid 80’s.

Power, Press, Pass (FORWARD & FAST) is the name of the evolving game - very much as rugby has evolved.

Our midfield ( if we had one) should be asking themselves why, on a quick break, are the 4/5 of us on the edge of our own box and not that of the opposition.

If City get through tomorrow they will have their work cut out against this team.

It will be difficult yes, but Man City have to think if the can defend better than a pub team they have every chance of beating Bayern as Sterling, Jesus and Silva will have a field day they way Bayern are defending.
