Phileas Fogg
Following on from @Fordy62’s topic about goals, it got me thinking about if I could make a City match day squad of players at the peak of their powers.. The challenge is to make a squad of players from the season you feel they were at their best. Not necessarily the best team possible.. but your favourite players at that moment in time. Use the timescale you’ve been watching City for and any formation you want.. for me, I’ve only been watching since 05 so kept it within that timeline I think mine would go something like this... GK - Basso (07/08 season) RWB - Ayling (14/15 season) CB - Carey (07/08 season) CB - Flint (14/15 season) CB - Caulker (08/09 season) LWB - Bryan (14/15 season) CM - Hartley (08/09 season) CM - Elliot (07/08 season) CAM - Noble (07/08 season) ST - JET (13/14 season) ST - Trundle (07/08 season) SUB: McCombe (07/08 season) Orr (07/08 season) Smith (14/15 season) Sno (09/10 season) Adomah (10/11 season) Abraham (16/17 season) Maynard (09/10 season) Incredibly entertaining forward line.. not much pressing though! Can’t believe no-one has put either Cole or Dzeikanowski in their teams yet. It depends on your age group I suppose and the age you were when City got promoted to Division 1 or won the old Freight Rover Trophy final at the old Wembley stadium. half of my team would be the team that played in the Division 1 for the first season then a few others from later years.
