Robbored
Heard him talk at Senior Reds about two years ago. Far and away the most fascinating speaker I’ve heard at SR. He gave tremendous insight to the complexity of the ‘laptop’ department. Really absorbing stuff.

brady bunch
Lets be honest, something went wrong in the covid break, the team looked shoddy and off the pace in many areas when compared to our opponents in the early games back. despite the in house club news telling us how hard they were all working etc.. Maybe this guy is being blamed for that?

brady bunch
and getting too obsessed with the opponents.... All top clubs use stats - that’s why the players wear those vests to relay pretty much every stat possible to the stats guys. From cliks covered, sprints and distance. Heart rate, breathing rate. Heat maps, touches and passes made with accuracy levels. The stats guys can see via the stats which players are flagging. I imagine Davefevs would love the job! Each player has an app on their phone and they report in before training on how they slept, how they’re feeling so that the coaches know how things are before they at Failand. All the stat information is gathered throughout a match but the laptop guys are not permitted to pass that info on the the coaches until the game is over. The fourth officials are particularly vigilant on that score.

The question was probably badly worded by Twentyman, but it was clearly in reference to McGregors report that some Analysts had been removed along with JMc. Of course, Ashton took the opportunity to say that no ‘recruitment’ team had been let go, but it was pretty obvious that the question wasn’t just aimed at ‘recruitment’ but more general ‘analytics staff’. So I won’t be apologising for any knee jerk comments. It was obvious who Geoff was referring to but Ashton didn’t confirm. So whilst it was not an outright lie, it was a known mistruth. Perhaps it was, but in Ashton’s answer pretty sure he said recruitment staff hadn’t left, so while Ashton is omitting truth it’s not quite the same as the post I quoted as the poster said ‘people from that department’, they aren’t the same department, so it was a truthful statement while omitting/skirting other truths. Ashton simply took advantage of a poorly worded question. The reports from McGregor specifically mentioned Stanton. Geoffs question was worded incorrectly as he asked about recruitment, but the only reports had been of Stanton & Coles so it was quite clear and obvious whom he was referring to. Ashton would’ve known of those reports and who was being referred to as well, but chose not to clear that up.

On the analysis of sleep it can actually help understand the player in a session, if they haven't slept well could be fatigued which if you make them perform a high intensity long session could increase chances of injury, monitoring sleep is now common place in football, Brentford have a sleeping coach. Davefevs
In summary, Gregor wrote about (Performance) Analysts losing their job, Geoff asked the wrong question, and asked if Recruitment team had lost any jobs. MA answered the question, knowing full well the undertone of the question. If we were a transparent club, MA should’ve probably said something like - we haven’t lost any staff from recruitment, but we have made job cuts elsewhere.
