Leicester away 1960's cup. Train broke down going up. Had to walk from station to Filbert St in pouring rain, Got in just before half time. Game was abandoned at half time 0-0. Walk  back to staion in pouring rain again. train broke down going home. Got to Parson St. about 11.30.pm. Just to rub it in i think we lost the rearranged game 4--0.  Friggin nightmare.

Younger members of the forum may have difficulty believing this, but Bristol Rovers used to have a decent team and sometimes used to beat City. I can remember watching one such match in 1963 when Rovers won 4-0 at Eastville. As I was still at school and half the class supported Rovers (another unbelievable fact) the following Monday was difficult

Twerton when we lost 3-0, I was amongst the pikeys that night and it wasn't pleasant to say the least. ??

That was my first away game without my Dad. Shocking night. The pitch was shot to pieces I remember particularly in the 6 yard box. I remember JJ talking to the fans at the front to calm down but it was mayhem. Was that really 30 yrs ago?

QPR away.

was in a pub on Shepherd’s Bush before the game. Police for some reason surround the pub and then insisted on escorting all the city fans in the pub, to the ground... the longest route possible! Should have taken 10-15 minutes. Took about an hour.

Missed the first half hour, by which time we were 3 nil down.....

Watford away ‘92, 5-2 loss and three players sent off. That was a long day. Made worse by the fact my uncle couldn’t make it at the last minute so my auntie, who knew nothing about football, had to step in.

The 3 A's, Atteveld, Aizlewood and Allison?  I seem to remember we were shouting for a 4th to be sent off so the game could be abandoned...

I recall an away game at Bradford where we were 3-0 down at halftime, absolutely no desire or commitment shown and the players walked off beneath us, high up in the stand behind one goal.  Some players smiling and joking as they went off, cue scenes in the away end giving absolute verbals and pelters. Can't remember the 2nd half or the drive home.  Miserable.

Can remember joking with a mate that the ref was sending them off in alphabetical order and that Matt Bryant must have been worried!

Swansea away under Tinnion back in 2005.

It was one of those shit bubble games, we were 3-0 down midway through the second half, tried to leave, the stewards wouldn’t let us, so we had to watch the demise of Tinnion - my favourite ever City player - as City capitulated to a 7-1 mauling.

Awful day.

Difficult one this, three atrocious performances I remember are Doncaster away in about 2006, Swansea in the 7-1 and Oxford in about 1999, however 90 minutes of dross aside they were cracking away days?

Doncaster away was hilarious.

Wolves away quite a few seasons ago when John DeWolf played for them.

For some reason I wore new shoes. Totally lost my bearings walking to the ground, late getting in and we were already 2.0 down by the time I got in. Coming out at the end I was herded with loads of home fans going in the opposite direction. Completely lost. Then couldn't find the car park. It started raining as I was aimlessly trying to find the car, by this time the police were packing up I was limping badly because I had blisters with the new shoes and it was starting to get dark. Wolverhampton is not the best place to be on a Saturday night.

Then I finally found the car park and the attendant was starting to go round and check the number plates before locking up. I found the car, took my shoes off and as I drove out he shot me a funny look when I told him that I'd had a shit day, my team lost, I'm soaking wet in bare feet but I've found my car! And all with a beaming smile!

He must have thought they're a weird lot in Bristol.

I didn’t see a single goal that day ?

Gas 3 City 0 was a major pill to swallow. I left Bath and headed back to the Hen and Chicken and was angry at our inept display and the visibly shaking Sinclair. Recall arriving at Orient at half time earlier that season. Also went to Boundary Park in the days when they had a plastic pitch. Oldham trotted out and saw our lads nervously tap the ball about and their forward (Marshall?) bowled the ball from the half way line. It bounced once and flew over the bar....there was an audible gasp. We just didnt compete that afternoon

Think this might be one I can 'win' if that's the right phrase.

Brentford away 1997 play off 2nd leg.

We lost but that was immaterial to the story. Normally we took my mates son away but, as it was a night match, we didn't sadly.

Said mates wife was heavily pregnant and my Mrs was 16 weeks herself.

After the game we thought have 1 beer then head home, which we did.

In the pub car park we were jumped by what turned out to be Chelsea nutters backed up by Brentford. We took a hell of a beating, really bad.

Eventually we both recovered enough to make our way home, how we did it I'll never know, we were in a right mess.

My friends wife went into labour after seeing him, luckily their baby was OK, my Mrs was so shocked at the state I was in, she miscarried an hour later.

A long time ago but I still hate Brentford with every sinew.

Ironically, the pub we were attacked in was levelled to the ground because of a fire when we played them the following season.

Both my mate, post birth and myself spent 2 days in the BRI afterwards.

Crikey, that's horrendous. I was at that game and can't remember a less threatening away game.

Just goes to show, if you're in the wrong place at he wrong time.

Having read Ska Junkies post I'm just glad I've been lucky enough to come home in one piece after over 40 years of away games. There's certainly been a few close scrapes.

Nothing on the pitch will come as depressing as 02/05/90

More recently, last season at Luton had bad tactics, players out of form and an embarrassing section of our own fans, so that wasn't a barrel of laughs.
