Rowe expected to be out for at least 2 months.

Martin out with hamstring injury sustained in training.

Paterson back in the squad tonight.

Thanks, will update tomorrow.

I'm actually losing track with a few of the additions!

Watkins eg. Unsure how many has he missed? Then Nurse, also unsure.

Think they both returned injured from loans, so maybe count the games unavailable since then?

Yeah, I'll do that.

Unsure why Lansbury wasn't in the 20 tonight, hope there's not another to add. Hope it's just a case of up to speed, sharpness etc.

Injury blow for City

Martin out for some time with a hamstring issue.

Gregor McGregor:

'Chris Martin confirmed as having a 'significant hamstring injury' by Dean Holden. Refused to say he's out for the season today but our understanding is he won't play again this campaign.'

Quick update, amended with the Edwards injury as per @Nogbad the Bad

Going into Cardiff at home:

Currently injured.

  • Baker- 27 games
  • Walsh- 27 games
  • Williams- 27 games
  • Sessegnon- 20 games
  • Weimann- 20 games
  • DaSilva- 16 games?
  • O'Dowda- 3 games and 6 games in 2nd spell.
  • Edwards- 6 games.
  • Pring- (Post recall)- 5 games.
  • Nurse- (Post recall)- 3 games.
  • Adelakun- (Post recall)- 3 games.
  • Martin- 1 game.
  • Rowe- 1 game.

Watkins, don't know the precise date he was recalled- was it effective of 1st January or was it when Holden mentioned it on 23rd December. Depending which metric we use, it's 5 games or 7 games!

Those who were out but no longer are- in one case no longer at the club!

  • Mawson- 16 games
  • Paterson- 12 games
  • Bakinson- 4 games (Covid was a factor).
  • Brunt- 4 games.
  • Kalas- 3 games.
  • Diedhiou- 1 game was it (Covid).

Was reading the Times today- it stated Liverpool had an average of 6 players out per matchday up to and including the most recent one- isn't altogether clear . I make it 205 matchdays missed, in 27 games- a few will be Covid so unsure how to weight them, but it's about 7.59 for us! 7.59...just incredible. Was talking about what an impact it was on them...we're about 26% worse off!?

PS- Wasn't clear if it was inclusive of all competitions or League- my figures are solely about the League.

Way too many games in December and January compared to normal.... From am article today on BBC...

Research conducted by artificial intelligence platform Zone7, which specialises in injury risk forecasting and works with 35 professional football teams worldwide, shows that playing eight matches in a 30-day period increases the incidence of injury by 25% when compared with playing four to five matches in the same timeframe.

that's a huge difference.

City are far from alone as Steve Bruce was saying post match v Saints.

Bored this morning, read a piece about Rugby injuries and probable links to playing surfaces - amazing how the research applies very much to Bristol sport and both teams using the Pitch at the gate!

Even FIFA is collecting massive amounts of data on injury v pitch type.

Perhaps our injury crisis is home made, and not due to personnel!

Food for thought!

It's no excuse and frankly I can't be bothered given the awfulness of today but...it feels like excuse making tbh!

Currently injured- up to and including Watford away:

  • Baker- 29 games
  • Walsh- 29 games
  • Sessegnon- 22 games
  • Weimann- 22 games

  • Marley Watkins was out for 10 weeks as of November 5th as per the Bristol Post- recalled officially on 1st January, 7 games and counting.
  • George Nurse- was listed as injured in November- listed as recalled on 25th January, therefore I make that 5 games and counting.

Status unknown- bit of guesswork:

  • Other Edwards- 2 games and counting.

Rolling total to date:

Seems to be 245 games but the additions were quickly done- might revisit later.

Owura Edwards. He was the one who had Covid, Covid to injury how the hell??

Small point.

If I'm not mistaken Williams has missed the last 2 since Sheff. Utd, so it will be his 3rd absence in his 2nd injury spell tomorrow.

Ah yes, you're quite right-Watford, Reading and then Barnsley in 2nd spell? Think at time of writing was still unsure, but yes will amend and update after game tomorrow.

Be helpful to distinguish between the 2 O. Edwards.

Edwards - 10 games. = Opi Edwards. Or Op. for short. Has he had an op? Wouldn't be surprised, but he's knackered anyway!

Other Edwards - think 4 games and counting - 2 or 3 to Covid, the remainder to injury. = Owura Edwards, or Ow. for short. Is he saying Ow? Afraid he might be, but he's knackered anyway!

By the sounds from Simpson earlier he got the injury (or made an existing issue worse) playing in a training ground game between U23's and U18's

Good work Pop, thanks. Looks really bad when you see it on paper, so to speak. Something is definitely very wrong and its got to be a priority for the "new" leadership to address quickly.
