Hopefully Mawson is fit and over the knee problems.

It would be fantastic if we had the Mawson of a season or two ago ala Webster.

Looks like we could have a formidable back three..

What’s it all about ?

He’s passed a medical hasn’t he ?

I am sure the club would have paid particular attention to his past injuries and taken the decision to sign him in full knowledge of the possible recurrence.

Welcome Alfie .

Mawson has been at Fulham for two years, and injured for 14 months of that period. Sad really, because I like him a lot. But quite well known that Mawson will retire when his contract expires in two years or so. He apparently has no meniscus left in one of his knees, snapped one of his knee ligaments changing boots at half time.

Welcome Alfie .

Fingers crossed we don't have another Afobe situation, if not, looks like a quality signing.

surely this can’t be true as all the doom and gloom merchants said top players wouldn’t sign for holden

And some of those defending the appointment insisted it was the correct thing to do as we'd have no money for incomings, couldn't afford to allow someone like Hughton to bring his own backroom staff, FFP, 18th place would be acceptable based on our finances blah blah blah.....

I guess lots of people were wrong.

In all seriousness, it's good to see Holden being backed financially. I know it's only a loan, but it certainly isn't a cheap loan.

I wonder what sort of medical we put him through? I don’t believe for one minute it to be ‘’quite well known’’ that a 26 year old will be retiring from the game in 2 years..

Join the club, it’s the pain CBs go through.  Didn’t do mine changing boots though.

Think we will start to see some outgoings starting to happen over the next week or so.

I’m sorry - clearly, that’s bollocks. (Not getting at you personally mate)

There is no chance in hell that the club would pay £25k a week to a defender who has no meniscus and is nearing injury driven retirement. Even if by a miracle he got through the medical the money side of the club would veto the deal straight away.

I certainly hope so, too many players here to keep them all happy.

Welcome Alfie .

Joe Williams "passed" a medical - he'll miss the first 5 or 6 games.

I'm hopeful that Mawson is able to play to his previous standard and if he does, that will be fantastic.

Is this meniscus issue debilitating enough to stop him playing at 100% ?

The guy who told me isn't someone who would spout bollocks. He is a big Fulham fan and a very trusted voice too.

I can only say that with mine that it caused fluid buildup that often meant play a couple, miss a few....but I wasn’t a pro with all the specialist support they get.

Richard Osman????

No doubt he’s said it in good faith but to pay what we’re paying Mawson if it was true flies in the face of everything we’ve done as a club recently. I just can’t see it being the case.

I wouldn't trust Osman, his opinion would be pointless.

I'm not sure how the injury feels whilst playing, @Davefevs may be able to help, but perhaps Mawson won't train much and play through pain. After 2 more years he'd of earnt £2.4 million and could easily retire.
