Taylor Moore

Just read his interview from yesterday press conference in the Bristol Post and for a young lad who hasn’t exactly been given too much of a shot here, he seems to bloody love the club. Great to see.

He’s been sent out on loan four times in four years, took a pay cut to show willing when signing a new contract, asked to be made captain for the cup game and now saying he sees his long term future here as a captain.

I don’t remember him saying a bad word about us, even when LJ threw him under the bus a couple of times, then chose to send him out on loan and sign Benkovic/play Williams last season when I feel he should have been getting some deserved game time.
FWIW I think he’s going to be a decent CB and hopefully this will be a breakthrough season for him.

Model pro.

I think virtually all of us echo your thoughts.

Talks a good game, time to match it with his football. Here's your chance.

We have 3 central defensive positions and 3 fit central defenders.

Stoke and Sheffield Wednesday I'm looking at to really see his improvement, can he cope with the physicality? Has his concentration and processing speed improved?

At this stage last year he got beaten up by Bamford.

Very likeable guy, hope he succeeds!

I thought he was our best player on opening day.

A year earlier I thought Adam Webster was our worst player on opening day.

Yeah and he wasn't good! That opening day performance and selection was utterly disgraceful, and probably cost us the Nketiah loan IMO! But don't want to rehash last year too much, was just saying hope we see the improvement since then!

He was only at City for one season but I can honestly say that in all the years Ive been attending AG he’s the best CB I’ve seen.
He deserves to be in the PL.

I thought Caulker was equally as good, and this was as a 19 year old kid.

It's a pity his career went the way it has done, I thought he was certain to be an England regular.

But yes - back on to Taylor Moore. Have said before I would like to see him as our captain.

Personally would say VC, shows faith from us in him, leadership characteristics would come out anyway and let him just focus on nailing down a regular 1st team spot before adding captaincy to that

Without exception I imagine.

He's an endearing character and we all want him to succeed with City in the Championship.

Question marks over both his quality and particularly his toughness remain though.

Yep....Caulker was full of promise at 19 and had he had the same professional traits as TM he’d have become an full England international.

Sadly the wheels came off for him.

I hope we've learnt a bit as a club since we had Caulker too. I seem to recall him saying in an interview we put him up in a flat pretty much opposite a casino and left him to his own devices didn't we? While the player is ultimately responsible for his actions I'd like to think we take a greater interest in what our young players are doing outside of football since then.

Anyway back to Moore, comes across brilliantly and with his attitude and affinity for the club I really hope he can kick on this season and establish himself in the starting side.

Did you not see shaun taylor or louis carey?

Shaun Taylor yes, but Carey?! He played a lot of games and therefore is respected but in terms of his quality, he was average at best even at the peak of his career.

For me Shaun Taylor is the best CB I've seen play for us but Webster rightfully was so good that season that he instantly moved up a level and has since become a far better player.

Looked crap on opening day though.

Vast majority of Taylor’s games for us was played in league one.  Much easier to look great in league one

Would love to see him given an extended run as part of a three this year. Baffling loan in many ways after Xmas last year. Great that he is still so positive about the club. Interesting that a Southend pay cut is mentioned perhaps this means he was close to joining permanently a couple of seasons back

Really can’t see that.

I like him but think he needs to concentrate solely on being a regular in the side.

Back on topic......:cool2:......Taylor Moore is a model pro as Dave says and hopefully with LJ out the door he’ll get more chances to impress Deano and his new assistants and who knows maybe get a start against Exeter?

Given the paucity of CBs at the moment, if Moore doesn't get in the team then I would say he's on his way out.

I don’t think he’s let us down when called upon previously and easily good enough to be in our back 3.

For me personally, the appointment of Dean Holden only confirmed what I have thought about Steve Lansdown for the last few seasons.

So if our aim isn’t really premiership football (and it really isn’t, it’s just a ‘nice if it happens’) and more just a stable championship selling club, then let’s at least do it with our youngsters and some entertaining football.

We can carry on growing/acquiring physical assets for the owner off the field at the same time ?
