Gameweek 4 Update (Nottingham Forest A) - Can Winning Get Old?

This has been a weird year, so I suppose City getting off to their best league start in nigh on a century makes some sort of sense. At least the last half hour or so against Forest gave us a semblance of normality, with that reassuring terror of conceding a last minute equaliser welcoming itself back into my veins.

Still, two weeks without a win? Sort it out, Holden.

Ok, let's get a move on. A short(ish) summary this time. My plan was to fill our football-less weekend with this update, but then the internationals put me to sleep and now all of a sudden it's Friday. Friday. Gotta get down on Friday.*

Tell ya what, though, games like this are made for the Overload chip. Anyone who chucked in Martin, Weimann & Wells as a triple threat up top would be laughing all the way to the bank, or wherever they keep fantasy points.

Of course, nobody did.

Ah well, we still had picks of note...

:trumpet:Pick of the Week:trumpet:

And for the first time ever, you can add an 's' to that pick. That's right, we have a SHARED PotW KLAXON. Double trouble, courtesy of double points for the double assist master. Rarely will this section be devoted to those who are also highest scorers, but this deserves a tip of the cap.

Our two intrepid competitors who slapped the treasured armband on Chris Martin's bulging bicep were:

- table-topping & manager-monthing @Chessels Chick, adding "curse-crushing" to the list of hyphenated achievements, and

- now two-time PotW winner @kelbcfc, once for being bottom, now for being top.

Just that pick alone had them ahead of the vast majority of us. Stunner.

Speaking of the rest of us:

@Dogbert11pts (Hunt - Bakinson - Wells)

@Nathandao12pts (Mawson - Paterson - Wells)

@wayne allisons tongues12pts (Mawson - Paterson - Wells)

@bissellredhead13pts (Mawson - Paterson - Weimann)

@DownendRed9713pts (Rowe - Paterson - Wells)

@LeeJohnsonsFlatCap13pts auto-pick (Moore - Paterson - Wells)

@prankerd13pts (Rowe - Paterson - Wells)

@Redstart13pts (Rowe - Paterson - Wells)

@Rocking Red Cyril14pts (Mawson - Bakinson - Martin)

@jrt5555516pts (Moore - Paterson - Martin)

@CheddarReds17pts (Hunt - Bakinson - Wells)

@citywest3018pts (Vyner - Paterson - Wells)

@Newquay-Red18pts (Vyner - Bakinson - Wells)

@Oubliette2318pts (Moore - Paterson - Wells)

@RedYoshi21pts (Hunt - Bakinson - Weimann)

@Chessels Chick24pts (Vyner - Bakinson - Martin)

@kelbcfc24pts (Moore - Bakinson - Martin)

Unsurprising to see the top 7 made up of those who captained their forward; slightly more surprising to see that only two of them had Paterson; most surprising that our Nath did no better than had he stuck with another auto-pick. Ain't it always the way?! Almost didn't want to point it out, but those sort of eye-roll inducing twists of fate are exactly what fantasy football was made for, right?

Century up for Chessels, consolidating that top spot for now, with a little shuffle in the playoff/European/pointless (delete as appropriate to your mindset) spots behind. At the other end... well, sure, Nathan has ended up on the bottom immediately after celebrating not being there, but if we don't hit the floor we can't bounce back up, or some other clichéd statement of optimism.

Still, platitude or not, there is a long way to go, and thus it is still all to play for, even if I'm not entirely sure what the stated "all" actually is.

I'll sure as hell keep playing for it though. It's what we do.

DEF: Hunt (Mawson)

MID: Paterson (C) (Brunt)

FWD: Martin vc (Wells)

Used to perfection @citywest30, but yeah quite slim pickings on the subs front. Unlikely to need them I’d imagine, but never know!

On that note, I’ve put it down as Martin (Diédhiou) & Wells (Semenyo) at the mo.. lemme know if you’d prefer to swap that round at all.
