I didn't know it was going to be next week. So 3 games in 8 days.

Good opportunity to rotate?

O'Leary in, try Rowe again left centre back. Vyner. Bakinson, Semenyo. And maybe a good time to go with the new signings who I don't see starting Saturday.

Yep, good match for Brunt, Martin and Sess to get minutes. Perhaps a start for Semenyo. O'Leary in goal as you say.

Northampton are no mugs but you'd certainly think we will rotate.

Perhaps there's some chance things might change if the result/performance on Saturday is poor.

The first 3 rounds of the cup are in the first 3 weeks of the season, so if we win next week the same thing applies again to the Villa/ Burton game.

The dates for the cup rounds were announced before the season started

Seems a real rush to get this competition moving. It's why the second and third round draws were done at the same time

Right thing to do. Get everything back to normal asap.

It's being played on successive weeks now to avoid clashing with the Champions League and Europa group stages when they start in October. Otherwise you'd have had the big clubs either fielding seriously understrength teams or pulling out altogether.

Rd4 is the week after that too!

I think it’s a good thing with our squad (bar the CBs).
