Very worrying when our Chairman provides that sort of response.

Is it? He’s the Chairman not the chief exec. You wouldn’t expect a Chairman to be getting daily updates on contract discussions (just when decisions to be made/updates at board meetings).

It’s Mark Ashton’s job, not his tbf

I agree it’s Ashton’s job, but the Chairman should have at least have an understanding of what is happening at the club.

Football chairman is nothing like a chairman in a regular business.  They are typically much more involved and he's the owner's son, if he doesn't know exactly what the picture is with the finances why is he there at all?

Of course he knows the finances. He isn’t doing the daily contract discussions with agents though.

Exactly he’s there not because of his ability but because who his father is,that is shocking in any business and football is a business

And if he announced it on national radio breaking the trust of the player he would be in even bigger trouble

You'd expect anybody in his role to know roughly what was going on and be able to give an update even if it's a fairly bland one.

I don't think anybody suggested detailing contract discussions on the radio so I'm not sure why you're arguing against it.

See above. The bland response was no change to previous public statement - contract discussions ongoing. Nothing to see here. A bit like the Joe Bryan interview

Perhaps this is where the club is going wrong then. Control, leadership, communication comes from the top.
