Jay is seeing a specialist today. I have a bad feeling about this as it appears to be linked to his injury last season. Hope it’s good news.

Yep feeling the same. And what with Baker and now kalas. That strikes me as three if the first line defence set up out. Yrs we gave back-up players but this is really not a good state

Be surprised if it's the same issue.

I would guess that if he has rebroken his shin they wouldn't leave it a week for a specialist.

Not necessarily the same issue but the same part of the body. I broke my wrist quite badly and had pain there for several years after it healed. Dasilva could have some pain and they want to play it safe. At least that's what I hope

I thought the relief in Paul Simpson`s voice when asked about him pre match was palpable. I think we were a lot more worried than we were letting on.

Yep its clear he's back ! I do not  know, or  profess to know or understand shin (splint ?) injuries but it's clear that is not an issue now, more like march sharpness having been out for a few weeks.  Also Joe WILLIAMS on Robins TV confirmed he was back and recovered, and he (JD) will play a big part for us.  So fingers crossed.

Shin splints is inflammation of muscles and tendons around shin , and painful

Rest is the simple cure - maybe the intensity of pre season the cause

Haha, one of the few injuries I haven’t had (I was the local football equivalent of Darren Anderton).

I have Dave and the pain is bad

Its normally down to a lot of high intensity lower leg work and strikes some but not others

Little Dwayne Plummer (If you remember him) suffered from shin splints throughout his teens

I did as well, especially pre-season on hard pitches.

Its debilitating and hurts like hell.

If thats what Dasilva has then he has my sympathy - but he has to manage it with all the help he'll get from a professional set up.

Yep hard pitches or lots of road running will do it if you’re susceptible (tho Not sure they can complain about hard pitches too much !! ?

Id bet pre season and extra running , possibly road runs , will have sparked it

You are right debilitating - rest is the treatment

I suffered with shin splints from a young age. I had to give up fast bowling but rather than give up cricket became a decent batsman.
I always got them playing football when the pitches were hard, but with better podiatry and expensive trainers I was able to do marathons and half marathons when I packed in team sports. They have however returned again even after a long walk and they are very painful.
