Training Ground Update

Hang on so Lansdown isn't completely ruining this club and doesn't care like some people on here we're spouting when we didn't go for CH?

The crap coming out of those posters mouths at the time was embarrassing.

Let it go mate. Try and enjoy something without having a moan.

And I have an issue with the video title: The new training ground is on it's way. Sad how a basic grammatical error can detract from an otherwise very impressive presentation.

Is this a whoosh moment? In this context "its" doesn't need an apostrophe, being a possessive pronoun. But you knew that!

Damn.

We have come so far since the early 70s. I remember the city training ground for a couple of years on stockwood lane and when the players finished training they would leave the nets up for us so we could play and dream we were one of them.

Yep, remember playing club football on the “big pitch” at Stockwood Lane. It later became my home pitch for two clubs....was still a good pitch those years later too.

I take it we aren't getting an internal training pitch like the bears then?  Wouldn't we need that for Cat 1 status?

I believe that’s correct. A floodlit all weather pitch is also a requirement, but there isn’t room for those on the Failand site. They would have to be supplied elsewhere.

I’m no expert on this, but as far as I’m aware there is no regulation that says all the facilities have to be on the same site.

Your planning application for the Failand site specifically refers to making alternative provision for an all weather pitch/indoor facility somewhere else.

Maybe the Bears centre then?

The original plane was for City and Bristol to have their training centres co-located at Failand, but North Somerset thought that would be too large for a green belt site.

Hence the rugby boys having their own centre. Not sure the average professional footballer would like to be tasked with kicking Premiership rugby players off their indoor pitch so that they could have a kick around.

Think they’ve said before that they can use the indoor facility the Bears have

There May be other specialist facilities that are unique to one site but available to be utilised by us and the egg chasers

That sounds right Weeble.

I was working in Cardiff last week and know that CCFC train at the Vale of Glamorgan, looks very nice too, but they have an indoor facility right next to the CCS. This would suggest your assumption is correct.

Cardiff also have an indoor facility used at USW's site at Treforest

I think you misunderstand. I have always very much appreciated what SL has done for this club and the tremendous investment he has made in both the football and the rugby teams.

The disappointment that I and I believe others felt at the time of the managerial appointment was that we were told that the club needed a “breath of fresh air” and someone “to take us to the next level”.  After five weeks and interviewing some top candidates we ended up with LJ’s assistant. This was an anti-climax and many including myself felt misled and disappointed.

Having said that I am delighted with the start to the season and we will have to see how things pan out in the longer term.

The big mystery to me was why everyone was so surprised that we recruited from within.

When the new structure was put in place, it was mentioned in every other interview that the intention was that it would give us the opportunity to create continuity instead of starting all over again with a new set of coaching staff.

It was only right they should interview others to see if there was anyone who could bring fresh ideas but still work within the structure, also to "talent bank" for the future and maybe to fulfill their BAME requirements. I certainly don't think JL and MA woke up one morning and said, "**** it, just give it to Deano".

Because  when discussing the appointment of the new manager on Talksport SL stated the club needed “a breath of fresh air” and a manager capable of taking us to the next level. To most people this did not mean appointing LJ’s Assistant who was part of the existing failed regime.

Don’t get me wrong. I am delighted that we are currently doing well but I’m simply trying to explain why our expectations were different to what actually happened.

So, just people's interpretation then.

Imagine Pato telling Nathan Hughes that their time was up 😀
