Non league is brilliant!

I’m off very shortly to watch Bromsgrove Sporting versus Rushden & Diamonds in the 7th tier.

Mixing with away fans, fair decent level of footy and having a pint while watching all makes for a brilliant game.

Any of you regular non league attendees? If you haven’t tried, I’d wholly recommend.

I enjoy watching my daughter play for Ashton Girls as much as I enjoy watching City!

Perhaps head over to the Gas forum for their views of non-league footy!

Yes. Even last year was attending Yate games when city were away, and my feeling is that I’ll probably head down to Lodge Road over the stream more often than not this year.

As soon as they let STH back in AG, I’ll be there, but for now Yate vs Dorchester or similar wins over the stream every time, mainly for the reasons you’ve given

I’ll often watch Bath City, if the schedules align.

Kids love it on the terrace.

If it wasen't for the first pint already taken I would head for my local teams last game of the season (they only played half of the games of a full season)).

Recently sold a young talant to Milan https://www.lidingonyheter.se/milan-varvar-ifks-marshage/

A very young team scoring a lot and letting a lot in

Do the away supporters still get the benefit of an wm escort to and from the ground?

Used to do two or three non-league trips each year when I lived in London. Dulwich Hamlet, St Albans, Wealdstone etc. All great fun, could take your own tinnies into Dulwich even. Fans swapping ends at half time, really great days out with the boys.

So glad to see this posted.

Today was my 4th time going to watch Bridport play, and I am very quickly falling in love with it.

Again, decent standard of footy, some very good players. And a really nice community spirit at the club.

Not to mention, with crowds of 150 ish, you can hear so much of what the players, officials and fans say. Which is very interesting, and also plenty of times, comic gold!!

Add to that the fact that these teams want to play, there's no time wasting / diving or other 'gamesmanship' that you see in top leagues. Nor is there the money or greed culture.

Tickets for 3 of us, plus fish and chips each, for less than the price of one ticket into Elland Road. Plus my old man could have a fag pitch side ?

Loving Bridport and the non league and I'll continue to follow ?

Wholeheartedly recommend to any football fans getting down to your local non league club!

I love watching the lower leagues while AG is shut?. Much more freedom to enjoy the game with a pint and cig in hand , if you smoke that is. Been to watch Roman glass Sr George, Brinscombe and  Thrupp and Manor farm . Off to watch Manor Farm again on Tuesday in the FA Cup at the Creek. Get down and sample it , you won’t regret a trip to the creek and a chat with Tony the Scarecrow

Went to Wingate & Finchley vs Horsham today and was astonished at how good the standard was! Saw two absolute screamers. And three pints for a tenner - in London!

I went to Wingate & Finchley many times, used to live in Granville Place!! Was there many there? Used to get really small crowds?

I keep meaning to go and watch Rushall Olympic who are about a 10 minutes drive from where I live.

Former City legend Dele Adebola finished his playing days there not so long ago.

I always seem to have other plans though.

A bloke at work played for Rushall.

Max Grigg who owned the company also owned R&D I think.

That’s correct, he put a lot of money in. Put money into the ground & built the Diamond Centre ( conference centre)which I think was linked to the ground. Was trying to buy their way into the football league. Fairly sure they were up against Yeovil at the time in the Conference. COYR

Yes he did.

It was when DM's Co. Mercia fortunes took a down turn that Griggs could no longer afford to support R&D financially.

This spelled the beginning of the end for them as they dropped out of the football league, down the non league structure into administration and into extinction!
