I thought he looked pretty good when he came on, always wanted the ball and playing with his head up. I`m pleased he didn`t start if I`m honest. The Barnsley fans seem impressed too according to their forum.

Will he be another player who needed to get away from a big club to carve out a decent career for himself?

Wish the lad nothing but success , and always keep an ey on his career

Decent player at L1 , and looking to find his way at Champ level

But he was never going to be a Liverpool player

This is it isn`t it? At least we are beginning to see some of these hoovered up youngsters realizing the fact that they need to move on (and set their sights a tad lower perhaps?) if they want to actually play football at a decent level.

Not a bad way of doing it mind , develop in the surroundings of Liverpool’s academy and then go on to carve a career as a first team promat at least L1 / Championship level which is a very decent achievement

The secret is the timing / age / to break away IMHO , recognising the reality of first team future , and the adaptation from U23 football to pro first team campaigns , whatever the status of the developing Club

Tbf to Herbie , he’s done the development , the (unglamorous) loans , and is still very much a success , with credit above all , to himself and those who have helped his development

And if he tears it up at Barnsley then a prem move would be on the cards given they`re very much a selling club. Not top six but a Burnley or West Ham.

He and Joe Morrell have done it completely different ways and ended up in essentially the same place.

Which hopefully we can spin to the next talent coming along as "There's no need to go to Liverpool!"

Looks like it, he 'got away' from City after all!

Good luck to Herbie - but for our current glut of midfield players there must have been a fair chance of him returning to AG this week instead of going to Barnsley.

His tweets over the summer were hinting that he would love to come back here although they appear to have been deleted. He is often liking City's social media including tweets about the winning run a couple of weeks ago. No doubt if he kicks on in the future and we free up some space in midfield, we could see him returning. There was no point in signing him this summer with the number of players we need to offload.
