Can we have a definitive available for selection date for Messrs. Williams & Walsh?

I know the injuries cannot be helped but, with Massengo and Nagy clearly out of favour, we seem to be in a weird situation where - despite having a huge range of midfield options - we suddenly seem to have a real shortage of midfield options.

We've four games in the next two weeks - three of which are away, two of which are against recent Premier League teams and one of which is a Severnside derby and, whilst Paterson and Weimann have done okay, I think both would benefit from being both pushed and rested, and neither currently seems to be on the horizon.

They probably expect it to be 2 weeks, when they say that.

I think you are focusing on 2 cases, where there are apparent complications/delays.

Usually recover projections are pretty bang on, with most cases

Yet my experience is this has happened too often in the past. As in player x will be out for 2 weeks, then after 2 weeks it's actually it will be a month, then it's 2 months, then it's more serious than we thought so they are seeing a specialist, then it's they need surgery, then it's back to speculation.

Best not to raise hopes by claiming certainty when you can't really know. May not be poor medical practice but it is poor communication.

Holden has said that we won’t see Walsh and Williams before the next international break. That means until around 21 November!!!!! FML

When's the next international break after that? Only Williams was supposed to be back after the last one so I'm counting no chickens!

Maybe if people waited until. We were told when they are back, rather than the constant need for communication, people  wouldn't have reason to build their hopes up.

Injuries are complicated, yet people demand accurate updates. On something that's not always possible to be accurate on.

I'm sure they are giving the most accurate update they have at that point, when asked.

I'm pretty sure it's not a play to ruin your holloween party.!

My point being if you admit you don't know instead of claiming certainty it might discourage people from asking what has become a pointless question.

Now we are told it's after the international break - so not 2 weeks then - so here we go again.

My point being, they probably think they DO know, based on the medical advice - then there are set backs or complications.

Best bet is to relax and wait until you see their names on the team sheet.

if they are out of favour, they might have a carrot now to become in favour.  That’s football. Only 18 get kitted up.  Both have had minutes this season, even if scant.

Wonder whether we don't want to send them to play u23's and mixing teams and therefore they need to regain a match level of fitness to at least come off the bench through training and could take longer.

This is so frustrating as Williams said he’d be fit after the international break, so clearly had a set back. Think O’Dowda is ahead of Nagy/HNM for one of the three MF slots

Unsure about that- we've already got 2 in there for whom CM isn't their first position- Nagy has been in quite good form vs decent international sides this season and seems fitter than last season, so I don't get why he'd be so far down the list- note he always does better in a genuine 3.

Bakinson will have overtaken Massengo from Coventry but to seemingly freeze both out entirely, not least with our injury luck isn't something I get. Plus the Morrell sale- I wonder how well balnced our CM 3 is, especially if like today it's Weimann-Brunt-Paterson.

Getting rid of both Palmer and Walsh seems more ridiculous now.

Both were currently better than Massengo and Nagy in my eyes.

Maybe so individually, matter of debate, but Palmer as a bona fide CM? Dunno about that- even in a 3- that said his defensive numbers when he did play, not bad and showed signs of improvement!

Wasn't aware Walsh had left.

Generally when they give dates for a return it is qualified by "hoping for" or "expected to".

Those are not claiming certainty and allow for the fact there can be set backs which cause a delay.

Do you want them to say, "Walsh and Williams are not yet fit enough to play" once a week?

Exactly, it is what it is, if they're not fit then so be it. We'll have to be patient & hope they're both available in the near future. This isn't aimed at you RRH, just getting a bit miffed at people's impatience.

Why wouldn't fans be impatient?

We've been led to believe several times these 2 were a couple of weeks away from being fit, now suddenly they're at least a further month away.

Many of us have high hopes these 2 can make a major positive difference, thereby providing the team with a much needed boost.

Very frustrating, impatience is a very natural emotion in the circumstances.

Impatience is inderstandable but won't solve anything, what I find more disturbing is Walsh's contract situation.

Hunt, Rowe, Baker, Paterson and Diedhiou are in the same boat with contracts running out at the end of the season, but I agree Walsh's situation is a particular concern and we need him to commit his future to City asap.

It's something we were led to believe was on the point of being sorted out some time ago - similar to his injury!

Spot on. And especially since we've sold Morrell, loaned Palmer for the season, and don't appear to trust either HNM or Nagy.
