Denbury Red
Before the Fulham v Everton game Gary Lineker interview Carlo Ancelotti and one question he asked was about how he was trying to improve Dominic Calvert-Lewin. His answer was simple - Inzagjhi scored over 300 goals (although Wiki says 197), and he scored 210 with one touch! Perhaps our strikers should try that more often! Some may go into row Z - but we may find more hitting the back of the net ....... practise practise practise!! As Phil Mickelson famously said - the more you practise the luckier you get! Coxy27
If our strikers tried that they'd be smashing it at goal from the half way line most of the time. You've got to get the delivery into a striker in a scoring position for them to shoot first time.

Correct, After successfully escaping from bunkers a number of times in a round a spectator shouted that he was lucky. SBB
Shooting first time is situational, if Fam shoots first time Saturday, it probably gets blocked. There will be times in all strikers careers where they could have hit it first time but didn’t and times when they had a lot more time than they realised and could’ve taken a touch but didn’t. At professional level, where players are pretty much physically equal, making the right decisions at the right time along with technical ability, is what separates. bcdc
In his interview before the game, Semenyo mentioned how Wells and Martin have been encouraging him to play with fewer touches. They are experienced enough to know that without having useful tips from OTIB. It’s also true, as others point out above, that not all circumstances are amenable to one touch shooting. They did and he also said about being quicker when going past people. That was quite key, because he sometimes uses his power to get past someone, but doesn’t “get away” from them. If he’s learned that he needs to do it at pace in the Champ then that’s a good thing....and I think he put it into practice immediately yesterday. He had three examples yesterday, one when Vyner played him in between the lines when he got caught before unleashing a wild shot, then the other two where he shot into the bear post, one left football one right. He’s still raw, but he was the the spark yesterday. Looks like he can do it when starting and as sub. Just need to use him carefully....and we need to not expect him to play like that every week. Lrrr
To be fair thats because Ancelotti has highlighted the fact he thinks Calvert-Lewin can be that type of striker, helps when its the same manager as well for both players.

Change of pace is the key for me , though you can probably comment better as a centre half Add his natural power and strength to a sudden burst of pace and you have a real problem to deal with I thought his part in the goal yesterday was fantastic 1 A good run into space 2 His composure and vision, and execution , to pick out of Famara was outstanding - from any player at this level and Antoine of 12 months ago would have tried to drive on past the defender (Wisdom ?) who came sprinting / sliding across and either been tackled / blocked - a massive step up and change to his game , and not for the first time this season FWIW I thought Patos pass was an early contender for pass of the season and Fams finish up there with any hes made for us - All in all a superb goal with three top notch contributions
