Galway Red
Reading looked like they had match winners and were by far the better team, when was the last time we dominated so much and looked as good as that against a top 6 team or in fact against any team? We are a bang average team and have not progressed in the slightest in the last 3 years
spudski
I think who scored summed it up well. 'Team has no significant strengths and commits individual errors regularly.' We look a bang average side. We've lucked out on results. Reminds me of our start last season under LJ.

If it wasn’t for Bentley today, we’d have been hammered. We will do very well to finish in the top 8, let alone the top 6. No excuses, just not good enough. Currently, no. We are as good as/better than many, but a little way short of the top team teams. Having said that, we are an awful lot of players off being full strength. Portland Bill
We have a total no risk team, not one player ( ok, Semenyo when he plays out wide) is willing to try and go past anyone. COD, has all the attributes to go past players and create, but he won’t, he always takes the no risk option. Patterson likewise, he is playing far to deep to have any influence attacking wise. Our two wingbacks, are far from the quality needed to get out of this division, Dasilva gives very...very little going forward, and defensively is a liability, Hunt, is a decent defender, but offers little going forward, except for the standard whipped ball into the box from 30 yards out from the goal line. Diedhiou, how long will it take for our coaching staff to realise he is a ball down the channel striker, he can hold the ball up, but it’s rare, he is a striker that 100% needs a winger supplying him stuff from the byline, so under the current tactics, he has no chance of influencing games. Wells is a goal scorer, plain and simple, so work the tactics and formation of the team to get the best out of him, and he will score the goals. Central midfield, it’s clear that Nagy is a class act, but he has to be given the ball, the amount of times yesterday that he wanted the ball played to him but was ignored was ridiculous, he is used to playing in tighter spaces, but a lot of our side just aren’t on the same wavelength. All in all, we are a negative side, the whole plan seems to be keep it at 0-0 for as long as possible, then try and sneak a goal late on. We have now had 4-5 years of negative football, can someone please change this!

DT The Optimist
Some good points again all round from usual posters. Another question I would ask, how many of team from yesterday do you think would have started in the Reading team? I would suggest only Bentley? Ejria for them was quality in midfield (outstanding last year at the Gate for them when on loan from Pool) Meite, joao,Olise This lot had too much for us going forward and gave us a horrible difficult afternoon. That said we are still in top six and I hold the hope that with the return of many of the wounded our fortunes will look a lot rosier. Just stay around and get decent results against the so called lower teams....not as easy as it sounds.
