What’s the rules on loan recalls?
Can we call him back now or do we have to wait til the transfer window opens in Jan?

January.

Although I believe it's because we'd be unable to register him to play for us before then, rather than any rules specifically to do with loans.

Only during the window* a couple of exceptions.

It is built into the rules.

How many times does it have to be said that if a player wants to go then he goes.

Players are human beings as well and just maybe KS wanted a change of scenery and a new challenge in his life.

It is not always about money .

His social media at the time suggested otherwise.

What so everybody else has to put a shift in, and he gets to mince about trying to do worldie passes? Thats basically a good summary of his career to date with City

Hmmm.....

Some people might think that's a bit of homophobic term.

It's 2020 in case you thought it was still 1974.

If City had certain people as a head coach it might make sense to recall Palmer, as they have the ability work with a player and make him utilise his skills to the full. Unfortunately we’ve got Dean Holden who seems to do the opposite. Palmer coming back to City would be as bad as Bobby Reid going to Cardiff.  The player and the club / coach just don’t fit

I can honestly say I don’t think Palmer has ever gone missing in the sense of hiding like some players.  He’s always tried to get into positions to receive the ball, he’s not someone who makes sure he’s directly behind a player blocking a passing lane.

Is he naturally fit? No.

Does he perform the press well? No.

Does he shy away from tackles? No, but he’s a bit crap

Is he lazy? No, not imho, we’ve not seen him match sharp through a run of games really either and he hares around wasting effort.

Does he give the ball away in stupid positions? Yes, although sometimes because he makes himself available in bad positions and relieves someone else from giving it away.

Does he have that bit of magic? Yes, we haven’t seen it enough though.

Agree with this.

I'd also add, on from your points, that from a tactical angle he won't pull wide or he will try but not very effectively to help guard vs a 2 v 1 or maybe help launch a quick 2 v 1 opportunity to break.

Fair enough it's not his game but from that angle alone I'd prefer Paterson.

He should never have been allowed to go on loan in the first place.

He's got that creative talent that can win matches in a heartbeat. Unfortunately our coaching team don't have the same talent.

It smacks of the club looking at the midfielders and seeing if they could offload any they could get any reasonable offer for.

Spot on - the days of Afobe, Weimann and Palmer ripping teams apart seem long forgotten amongst a large number of our fans ... horrendous circumstances brought an end to that ... but I think of Palmer’s contribution during that time and nod with a smile on my face ...

Hmmm....

Perhaps you might explain.

I confess to not really understanding the meaning of such 'modern' words/terms as 'Woke' or 'Meh', but thought I understood the word 'mince' quite well - meat, generally beef or lamb, which is ground in to small pieces or, quite seasonably as it happens, a mixture of chopped dried fruit and suet.

When I hear the word 'mince', I think simply and automatically of spaghetti bolognaise and/or (Christmas) mincemeat pies.

Are you perhaps conflating the word 'mince' with 'faggot' and confusing yourself?

That trio, they had something we were good but let's not rewrite history.

Even then- less chances created, less possession, more shots conceded- yes it was better than the last 9-10 especially, and had we not lost key players early, and as other key players returned it might have got very good indeed but we were still somewhat reactive, in phases! Enjoyable in a number of ways definitely but...dominant, let alone ripping sides apart it generally was not.

What does mince mean in slang?
1. (of a person) to be in an effeminate or feminine position: to mince around. 2. to speak with an affected elegance or pretense. : “Look at him mincing down the street!” Related: mince, mincer, mincing, minced, minces.Mar 31, 2008

1. (v.) (perj.) To move or act in a way that implies homosexuality.
'You should see him mincing about, limp wristed with his knob out. I tell you mate, that sort of thing shouldn't be allowed in communal showers.'

'Christ no, he'd get slaughtered in a fight. Have you seen the way he minces about?'

A variant:
*light on his toes* homosexual.
Of a male, from the mincing manner of walking adopted by some:
Your assistant in the theatre, sir, your dresser, he's a bit light on his toes as well isn't he? (Monkhouse, 1993 -- a policeman was enquiring about sexual activity which appeared to involve homosexuality, bestiality, pornography, and prostitution)
From _A Dictionary of Euphemisms_ by R.W. Holder (Oxford University Press Inc., New York, 1995)

Ah, slang; that would explain it.

Obviously, I have been away for too long - I am also probably too old for, in these parts, to describe somebody as being 'gai' is to say that he is cheerful.

If true it doesn't fill me with any confidence that Walsh or Williams are going to be available any time soon then.

Can we stop talking about these two, as if they are our saviours. I’m not sure why people are so keen to get them in the side. There is no guarantee they are any better than what we’ve got now.

We clearly lack quality going forward and Palmer has that.

I see him as quite similar to James Rodriguez at Everton. He's clearly not going to give us much defensively but can us some quality in the final third.

I think the problem is Holden wants to play with two strikers and you can't really do that and also play Palmer.

For me you have to play him as a number 10 with a number 9 who can stretch the game alongside him.

Couldn't agree more, what they are though is 2 players that we haven't had a chance to see yet in the current set up and are therefore pretty much unknown elements. I for one would rather see either one of them give it a go than get Palmer back who basically did sod all here and is an absolutely known element.

Absolutely. Afobe only played 5 games for us before his injury (sounds familiar), he was pretty poor post his injury.

So QPR & Hull were really the only 2 games that this happened..

As per some other comments, if we were to recall Palmer then we MUST play him as an attacking midfielder, just behind the striker(s).

If Holden is still keen on keeping to a back 3, perhaps a 3-4-1-2 would be ideal for Kasey.

       Vyner-Kalas-Mariappa

Hunt  -  Nagy - Bakinson - Rowe

                  Palmer

       Semenyo  -   Wells

Players such as KP don't conform to norms; they possess skills and attributes which others lack and vice versa. Kasey can make a pass which few others can see but his ability to tackle effectively is, shall we say, a little suspect. For him to succeed in a City shirt, imo the team needs to be built around him and Harry's suggested line-up, above, does just that. However, the players around him need to make the runs which allow Kasey to find. Back in the day, Murray made runs down the wing knowing full well that Tinnion would play the ball inside the full back for him to meet. Both players became 'greats' in City shirts but fed off of each others' abilities. For KP to achieve for us what others cannot would require his teammates to change their games too.

There is absolutely no chance in bringing KP back unless Holden completely rethinks his approach. There would be zero value in just putting him into our present line-up and formation without taking steps to build on his strengths and recognise his weaknesses.

Quoted to Wales press , happy to stay at Swansea, now settled, that tells me he doesn't want to come back,

Players always say that whatever club they're currently at.

If we recall him he'll say he's happy and always wanted to come back.

It's common sense not to insult your current employer.

That press interview seemed to be a bit of a copy and paste of the one when he joined us....so I’m dubious about whether it was a genuine interview with KP.

Absolutely so, predictable but true.

Personally I can’t see the point of recalling Palmer despite his undoubted ability. He repeatedly fails to follow team instructions, including tracking back. No wonder LJ became exasperated with him.
