Realising Potential

It's been interesting to see players regaining, or in some cases exceeding, their potential in recent weeks. COD is showing signs of consistently delivering what we suspected he could do, Bakinson, Semenyo and Vyner are looking very comfortable as starters, and Nagy is back in the form that looked so exciting on his first few appearances. I think credit has to go to Holden and the management team for creating the atmosphere where player feel comfortable and supported to play to their full potential without the fear of criticism.

It was interesting that Holden singled out Massengo in his post-match interview as a player that is adopting the right attitude in training and knocking on the door of the first eleven, as he is really the last piece of the jigsaw - we've all seen what he is capable of and hopefully once he takes his chance he will flourish like the others that have taken their chances before him.

Holden seems to exude a calm and measured approach that, hopefully, is giving players the right atmosphere and culture to realise their full potential.

It’s called man-management....and what Dean lacks in head-coach experience he is trying to make up for in motivating his players.  He’s far from perfect, but having just watched his club interview tonight he didn’t go overboard.  Calm, makes it not about him.  Pre-match interview, did you see the smile of his face about having Bakinson back.  You want to play for him wouldn’t you?

You can see why the players wanted him to get the job full time.

Jobi McAnuff said much the same on Sky afterwards, the sort of manager that players want to play for.
