Offside
I saw this pic earlier on fb. I think it’s from the 4-2 win v Blackburn in the first game of the season after we got promoted in 1990. Some great goals that day. I used to love those floodlights. And the old Open End was deceptively big - the shallow rake made it look smaller than it was.

Then I realised they are Blackburn fans so it's really the 1950s.

Tin Soldier
Great photo that. To be honest, the old ground had a lot more atmosphere than the “library” we had last few seasons. But we did see lots more shots on goal back in the 90s
Oh Louie louie
Bar bs3 if that picture was took at the back of the park end instead of the away end. I think it may have been easier to spot a city shirt. I cant see what one of ours is wearing, i dunno about you.

Guest
Not much of that view left, the brady workshops and tower still hanging on but not for long. The tobacco bond buildings long since demo'd.
Oh Louie louie
Imagine telling them that day, they would be champions of england in 5 years that day. They would have laughed. Funny old game!
CodeRed
I do miss the old ground! We often used to stand in that part of open end even though it was the away section. As you can see from the picture the rest of the ground was rammed and as we used to roll out of the Cooper's at 10 to 3 it was usually the only turnstile with no queues. The corner part between the entrance and Dolman was home to quite a few (non hooli) City regulars.

Went in the away end a few times also when the Dolman queue was massive at 2.50pm. What I remember (quite fondly) was just how loud the home sections were when you were stood there as an “away fan”. The way the old ground was built, all the noise would descend on that away end. Great memories of the old ground. Was there when only 5Kish were turning up in the old Div 4. But those 5K made a lot more noise that the 25K that normally go nowadays - weird!

Oh Louie louie
People used to laugh when they gave out the crowd. I recall that end of season, doncaster game, they printed it was 2000, under what they said, more like 5. Then they blamed a apprentice for this in the evening post. When no mans land is open, you know theres a big gate.
Oh Louie louie
Credit to the apprentice, for giving the club, the takings, about 4 days later..... I think the announcer, said the gate was 17-18 for that doncaster game. The whole crowd burst out laughing.
