Can’t see either a resignation or sacking happening today, or anytime soon

To borrow (and slightly change) a quote from The Thick of It’...

”Sacking him today looks like we’ve ****** up, sack him at the end of the season looks like HE’S ****** up”

Lucky? Why? We weren’t great second half but we missed 3-4 sitters. Bentley didn’t make a decent save.

We were playing Wycombe not Norwich. Missing 3 to 4 sitters should quantify the issue

This. Lucky makes it sound like they hit the woodwork over and over, we defended for our lives and Bents pulled off worldie saves.

Basically, if our strikers could finish we`d have won about 4-1.

Ok we won. But please take on board we were lucky against the bottom side in this league.

The way to win a football match is to score more goals than your opponents in whatever way possible.  That is exactly what we did yesterday, scoring 2 well constructed goals which were both rounded off by ruthless finishing.  How is that lucky?  The only outrageous piece of good luck in that match was the wicked deflection that Wycombe had for their goal, other than that they did not trouble us.

Looking on their forum, their seems to be a lot of disquiet about the fact that they have not scored from a cross this season (unbelievable as that may seem!).  Armed with that knowledge, there was no problem with letting them cross the ball as much as they wanted to, as they offered no threat.  Of course, we dissect all aspects of our performance as always, and their were many things yesterday where we could have done better, mostly the way that our strikerforce did not capitalise on many good situations, and we have also been sloppy in possession for a lot of our games. But we have a win rate of just under 50% this season, that is down to the fact that we have played well enough to achieve those wins, you don't get any extra marks for artistic merit! And working the other way, you could say we were unlucky not to get a point at Preston and 3 at Barnsely, but are we going to start re-jigging the league tables to reflect how well each team played, and ignore the scoreline?

But yesterday we beat a tricky team that were desparate for a point or 3, and we deserved it because we scored 2 and they scored 1.  I do not see how  we were lucky, and what does it matter that they are bottom of the league?
